Would it fit the new xbox one S controller?

The battery will fit and work, but the replacement controller door will not fit the newer series S / X controllers. In order to get this working with my newer X controller, I took the battery door that came with the controller and cut a hole to fit the battery and expose the charging terminals.

So the chord charges the battery pack? Why not just either buy a chord by itself and plug into controller or buy rechargeable batteries?

If your battery dies while you are playing and you are using regular rechargeable batteries - game play stops. with these, if it dies while playing you plug it in and it charges while you play. Does the Elite controller fit/seat properly on this charger?

No this charger won't fit the elite controller. The battery door doesn't fit the elite controller because it's different from the standard controller. i would recommend a standard play and charge kit.
