I am 5' 11", 125 lbs. Large was too small, XXl fit me. Hoer this helps.

Q: Is there any down in this down vest?

From the Columbia website: TurboDown Insulation: 550 Fill Power Down, 80% Duck Down, 20.0% Duck Feather. My son has one and he loves it.

Q: what is the length? How far below the waist?

The bottom of the vest is 7 1/2 inches below the waist. Great fit!

I am 6' 2" and 235 lbs. I have the XXL and it is large but that allows for multiple layers underneath. I would guess that at 205, an XL might be the right one.
