Unmatched - Cobble & Fog

The game's afoot! If you like the simple slugfest gameplay of Unmatched, you will not be disappointed with this set. The characters and art are well-tuned to the Victorian aesthetic - dim, foggy streets and firelit parlours. Sherlock is one of the most-loved characters in the whole world of Unmatched. The other three are reasonably well-balanced against each other, but you do have to play each character with the right strategy. If you attempt to play Invisible Man like a tanky brawler, you will lose quickly. If you struggle to time the Jekyl/Hyde conversions properly with your card draws, you will not last. If you can't manage the sisters or make the most of beastform as Dracula, you will not last. As is always the case with Unmatched, some characters are just easier than others to play well. Learning to win with 'weaker' characters is part of the fun after the first game or two. The secret passages add an interesting twist to the board. If you don't like a game where you and others do nothing other than try to kill each other, don't get this, or any Unmatched game! It is not designed to be a storytelling RPG or long strategic territory-control game. It is just pure cards and maneuvers battling with miniatures. Try the Tales to Amaze set if you want the option to do more cooperative/strategic fighting.

So glad I was able to add this to my collection as when I found Unmatched, this one was already gone. The only difference I noticed was in the spin of the player hit count dials but everything else is the same. The Shipping time came to me almost a week early, it flew through customs, so that was a nice surprise so people might get it early too. When it comes to the game, I think it is a must to have for Unmatched fans. Dracula can be a ton of fun to play and Holmes is truly one of the strongest characters ever made.

Beware of the shipping for this item. This game was NOT shipped in a outer box, just thin plastic. The plastic arrived torn open, the actual GAME BOX was torn up the side with a hole in the bottom. Luckily no pieces are missing. My son was eager to play this and would not wait for me to return/exchange. Though I would have appreciated a discount as this did not arrive in "New item" condition. I tried to reach out to customer service, but was sent in a loop. However, for review of the game itself, my son played with the original restoration version and says this IELLO version is similar quality.

I enjoy the game - But I love games! My kids did not sink into it as much as I thought they would... But, will keep trying. Fast delivery and in perfect condition.

This is a great system, it plays quick and is so well balanced. Nice mix of player abilities and card powers keep every turn interesting. The cobble and fog set has a great mix of characters, it's a great introduction to the system but also has characters with some really interesting abilities.
