True, you can find beach chairs that weigh a few pounds less -- but you are almost sitting on the ground, and at a certain age, it can be difficult to get in and out of a chair so low. Or you can buy a taller 'camping' chair, which has more support and nifty features like beverage holders -- I own one of these too, but they are noticeably heavier to carry.This chair is a good compromise between the two. If you want something that you can sling over your shoulder and walk to the beach or park, this works nicely. Sturdy enough yet light weight, and a good price too. A++++
