Perfect fit for purpose
The cross cutting shredser works well and it is easy to dislodge papers if there is a paper jam. Usually the person putting in too many papers, not the machine.

Works perfectly
It says it can cope with up to 8 sheets. It works, but struggles with it. You are better off shredding up to 4 sheets at once.

Died after 3 weeks
I chose this particular cross-cut shredder as it was the only one in the price range which had no negative reviews on Amazon. Sadly it does now. Having now had a chance to compare it with a different make of shredder (see below) I realise just how slow it is, and how hot it runs. Despite the claims, it only really manages to eat 3 sheets of standard paper at at time, and even then only in short bursts before needing to lie down for an hour.I could have lived with this, by exercising a bit of patience, but three weeks in it died. One of the two rollers stopped turning, and just resorted to a loud clunking noise. Of course, the paper no longer fed in. Total use was about 80 sheets of paper in 3 weeks, which is hardly a reasonable product lifetime. So it had to go back.Amazon made no quibble about a refund, which I immediately reinvested in a "Q-Connect Cross Cut Paper Shredder, Q10CC2", which is (or was) a Which? Best Buy. And what a difference! It devours up to at least 8 sheetss at a time, runs cool, and needs very little rest time. It's a few pounds more than the Rexel, but go on, treat yourself. There's a world of difference.

These shredders don't shred and break down in minutes.
I generally try to bite down and resist writing bad reviews. Better to spend time and energy giving out a positive vibe, yes? I'm making an exception here. Do not buy this item. I tried two of these. The first one lasted a few minutes. The second one lasted … oh, about the same. This item is so bad - and I'm not kidding here - that you'd need about forty of these to get through a ream of paper. To think that we are destroying the planet to produce garbage like this makes me genuinely angry. A machine that doesn't shred is not a shredder. A machine that breaks down after a couple of minutes work doing what it was supposedly designed to do is a failure. And that failure should be withdrawn from market. I should say in fairness that Amazon has refunded my money without any difficulties but I still wasted time having to tote two bulky parcels to the post office for return. In summary, I genuinely can't fathom why this company is still in business. Amazon should certainly pull the plug.

Maybe I was unlucky...but both machines!?
Have been a longtime user of Rexel shredders and office supplies. This product died on the first day it was used. Only operated 2 x 4sheet cycles when it jammed. Engaged reverse, changed wall socket, replaced fuse - all to no avail. Amazon live online chat was excellent and they dealt with Rexel within minutes whilst I waited on line. A Replacement was agreed which arrived within 48 hours. Unfortunately this machine was no better. 2 cycles of less than 3 minutes duration and more than 3 hours apart when it died. Various resus procedures were employed - again to no avail. Buy at your own risk! Now ordered an Amazon Basics machine.UPDATE: The Amazon Basics 10-12 Sheet CrossCut is performing extremely well (if a little noisily).

Not a great shredder
I bought this shredder to replace an old rexel hs.95 that served me well for about 10 years. I was attracted by the fact that the new one could do 8 sheets at the same time. As you can see from the picture, the new machine is slightly shorter that the old one and looks a lot nicer. It’s also quieter than the old one and shreds faster than the old one. That’s where the good points end though. It says 8 sheets in the instructions but the reality is that when you put 6 sheets in it struggles. I think it would shred 6 sheets faster if you fed them in in two batches of 3. The next problem is that the way it tells you that the bin is full is when the top is lifted off by the shredded paper underneath. This would be ok except that by the time this happens there is a large amount of shredding getting stuck in the blades. When you lift the top off you have to pull this paper out and inevitably some goes on the floor so it makes a mess. Also, if you let it get too full the blades jam up with paper and when that happens it stops cross-cutting. The. You have to unplug it and pick out the bits of paper from the blades (not fun). There’s a window on the side of the bin so you can see when it’s getting full but sadly the window is smoked and it’s a dark grey bin and with the lid on you can’t see through it. I would not buy this model again.

Broke after 30 minutes of shredding
I had about 2 carrier bags of shredding to do , mainly payslips old tax forms nothing too taxing. Payslips are folded and sealed type about 3 sheets thick. After about 30 sheets it jammed, then fed half the bin back out and got stuck in the rollers. Cleared that eventually and the auto feed sensor was broken stuck on.Took it apart I'm not one to return basic things it's just cutters on rollers, so cleared all the paper out cleaned it up. Reassembled. The paper feed sensor is flimsy plastic on a microswitch although still intact it's stuck on with nothing interfering so must have bend the plastic in the first jamIt then did about another 15 pay slips and jammed again. Really jammed so had to take it apart again, cleared it all out.Did another 4-5 sheets of tax forms single A4 and jammed, reversed it gummed it all up and overheated. It's now been sat cooling down. So it's a preice crap. But it's cheap and will prably do you for the odd bank statement.Took it apart to many times to return it so if you have a chunk of shredding to do buy something more expensive.
