Compassionate Satanism: An Introduction to Modern Satanic Practice

Another Amazing book Frim Lilith Starr. After reading her previous book "the happy satanist" which saved my life in regards to my mental health, this book has been in integral part of my recovery journey. Lilith writes so beautifully and through this book youll see how satanism inspires compassion, not just for others but importantly for ones self.

This book is a joy to read. It is really well written and tells you what you need to know plus a whole lot more. It couldn’t be more comprehensive but it doesn’t lose sight of the personal, and with that it’s moving too. A great introduction to Satanism.

This book is an excellent mix of being educational on modern Satanism, and also including personal beliefs. I think it's a must read for anyone new or well versed in Satanism.

Excellent book, really recommend to new Satanists looking for an intro to Satanism. The book did arrive damaged, ripped on the front cover but unfortunately I can’t contact the seller, or Amazon without asking for a full refund which I can’t be bothered doing. It’s a same because it’s a great book! Thanks.

UPDATE: upon reading the first half of the book I can understand why she chose to devote such a large section to personal accounts and what the culture/religion means to followers. Its written very well, flows nicely, and feels like I'm sitting down with the author and hearing their story. I don't LOVE the second half because its just not what I was hoping for, but its still and interesting read nonetheless. ... I will preface this by saying I may change my review as I get into reading the book, because I'm open to learning. However, a third of this book (a genuine third) is literally bullet points and excerpts from a whole bunch of day-to-day Satanists thoughts on "compassionate satanism" and what it means and looks like for them as individuals. As compassionate a person I may be, I have no interest reading the accounts of a dozens of strangers, and no disrespect to them or the author, but if thats what I wanted to dive into, I would've opened a blog, rather than pay $40 for self-lead interviews. I was hoping for more. That said, I'm hoping that i will be proven wrong, and it will be a joy to read after all and will leave a lasting impression to account for 5 stars. I'm cautiously optimistic but right now, let down.

I love this book, i started it a while ago and picked it up last week - now i am already done reading. Its fantastic! Gives a lot of information while being easy to read, feels like the author is talking to you while you are wrapped up in a warm blanket with tea. Even while i was reading it in the cold train travelling through snowing countryside :) i Had a Smile on my face so much! Gives courage and good Life philosophies too. I read a lot of psychological books in my life and this helped me more then several Others. Also brilliant inspiration regarding art, politics and Lifestyles . This book is a valuable resource for anyone seeking an ethical framework based on reason and self-empowerment, especially those questioning traditional beliefs.

Probably more people are familiar with Laveyan Satanism (Church of Satan) that leans toward an Ayn Rand-ish philosophy - but that is not the only attitude that Satanism has to offer - this book shows how Satanism can also be affirming rather than reactive and also compassionate and focused on community. Also, if you are yourself a Satanist, this is a good book to hand to your curious (or concerned) friends and relatives to help answer their basic questions.
