Greatly improved from my 2013 review!
***Review Update***This new version is MUCH improved! I originally rated this gate i got in 2013 with only 3-stars because it was unbelievably flimsy. (See my original poor review below)After 3 years of stepping over (and at times inadvertently kicking) our original model it finally broke into pieces for the last time and was beyond repair. I had absolutely NO intentions to ever buy this one again! However, I realized this is still the only reasonably priced gate that will fit across our 50-inch wide opening. Like with my original order this new version didn't arrive in any additional packaging soI fully expected to empty out a pile of broken sticks. I was really happy to see the quality is GREATLY improved. This gate is now made from a much denser, slightly heavier wood than before. No dings or gouges in the wood at all and all the rungs are securely attached. Even the wood staining is much neater and shows an attention to detail that has greatly improved. It is still predominately a visual barrier only since the sides can be pushed out of the way by even a small dog. However, if access is blocked on the sides (we use barstools) it feels quite study. ----Original review from 8/13I specifically bought this because of the low price compared to the other pet gates. It also was wider than the others to fit across an extended doorway. The actual look of the gate and finish are not bad. However, as stated in may other reviews the wood is cheap, soft and prone to split simply removing it from the box. Mine had some dings and splints in the wood just from the shipping. If you are the least bit rough while opening it you will be left with a pile of sticks! This gate will only work for a dog that just needs a visual barrier. The wood is so light even a small dog could just push it open but it would probably just crumble apart just from pushing on it. You'd best plan to just step over this gate each time you pass through the area. Any repeated opening or closing one end like a door to pass through the room will destroy it. Although holes had been drilled into the frame for the rungs there seems to be no glue holding any of them in at all. Every time the gate was moved or lifted it would come separate and come apart 3-4 rungs at a time. As each rung would separate from the frame I would have to use wood glue to secure it back into place and bind with clamps or bungee cord until it was dry and would hold together. It took about 7 days for the various rungs to come apart then be repaired before it could be moved or adjusted. You could nail them in place at each end, but with 15 rungs and multiple frame pieces around each section that's a lot of work. I think the would would split too. Unless you need the extra width this provides and have plenty of time to spend trying to make it functional you might want to spend a little more on something else.

7 & 8-2012 Great and Low Cost and update (2015)
I read the reviews but went with the low price and ordered 4. If you spend a low amount don't expect high quality like you would get for Mahogony or Oak for $150. The 4 gates arrived fine, are very light weight, work well. They arrived with the smell of stain and may need airing out before use. They will do fine for my small Havanese dog. So far so good, they act as a deterrant. If you want better quality spend more and order the Frontgate type, but one can buy about 6 of these for the price of one higher quality type. If you need a basic barrier for a low price, order these. They are made cheaply, reflected by the price, but they work well and look nice. If you buy these for the low price I think they are worth it. Most all pet gates/barriers are probably made in China. Amazon has a wide selection to choose from; high end to low end. These shipped fast and were well protected/packaged; 4 seem to come in a factory box. These do not seem like the same gates many reviewed poorly so maybe they made improvements. Update 8-31-15: I have, over the years, had to re-glue some places and put some glue in the hinge/screw areas but overall they have been pretty good for gates we have used often for over 3 years. I recommend.Update 8-1-12:I really like these gates as they are light and work very well. I use 2 to block electrical cord access. It is very handy to have ordered 4 and I would like to have ordered more at the same low price; the price has gone up about $8.Update 8-29-12:Highly recommended, I have walked into these at night and hurt myself, not the gates. I ordered 4 more; total of 8. I think they are great at a great price, still. I ordered through the Colonial Medical Supply and paid for shipping and got the same great quality and packaging; the shipping boxes were dinged up but not the product boxes or the contents. Very pleased overall. Lightweight and easy to move around.

Not a real barrier, cheaply made, and falls down easily
We wanted a gate that didn't look like part of a prison and that could be tucked away when we didn't need it. The Jobar Pet Parade Folding Gate seemed like it met our needs, and it looks good in the photos.Unfortunately, any dog or cats with even a few IQ points will quickly figure out that this gate is light enough to slide away or push down. So, at best, it is a visual barrier - not something that will really keep animals where you want them. If you're good at pet training, you could probably get your dog to stay put behind it (but, if you can do that, do you really need a gate...?).The construction is really cheap. It is made of very soft pine and has only a light stain as a finish. Ours began warping after 4 months, which caused the frame to come apart at the edges. The photo shows a broken edge, but doesn't really do justice to the overall amount of warping.Once it was apart, it looked like it hadn't really been glued or nailed together at all in the first place. Since it was past the return window, I glued it back together.Because of the design, the gate tends to fall over when touched unless it is in the exact position you see in the photo on the box.I definitely wouldn't buy another, and wish I'd paid a little more for a better quality, more well-designed gate.
