Review: Why isn't fiction this good anymore? - You know, to this day I enjoy Justice League series more and more. It is hands down, my favorite piece of non-written fiction ever!! I grew with the Batman: TAS and a bit of Superman. I was very young when these shows first came out and I was more into epic action scenes. As I grew older and got these shows on DVD, I really started to appreciate them. They just don't make fiction like this anymore. Honestly, has Bruce Timm made ANYTHING bad? I've yet to see anyone with such a success streak in the entertainment industry. Or maybe I just don't get out enough, :-P To me, Bruce Timm and his cast of writers, directors and voice actors have outdone themselves in the Justice League series. It stays loyal to fans of all their shows, has a lot of wonderful continuity with the villains from the Batman & Superman series. These guys really get the 80/20 rule. Even if you haven't been a fan, it's hard not to love this show. Most of the episodes in season 2 are in two parts, and almost all of them have more of a story than most of the Hollywood movies that come out. Some of my personal favorites are Starcrossed (Obviously!), Hereafter (Lobo.. man, who is the guy that is the voice actor for Lobo? BRILLIANT!! Awesome ending, touching ending, fantastic!!), A Better World & Maid of Honor. I could write an essay on how great this show ended up being. Season 2 was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I'm writing this review because I don't think these creators gets enough credit for their work. Apparently, a lot of disgruntled fans didn't like their twist to some things (GL's ring being cut off, Hawk Girl, etc.) whatever.. your loss. I didn't read a single comic book growing up so hey, what do I know? But I know good entertainment. Bruce Timm, you and your team have made something very special and this series will live on for a long time. Thanks so much for all the years of amazing entertainment! I'm a proud owner of ALL your work! Review: An amazing DVD - I bought all four seasons of The Justice League program because I had never watched it when it first aired back in 2001-2004. I was intrigued when I bought a couple of DC Comics straight-to-video DVDs with Bruce Timm's top picks as bonus features last summer, 2010. I have to say I much prefer Season 1 to Season 2 as Season 2 is much darker. However, having said that, I really enjoyed watching Disc 4 of this DVD with the 4 storylines of "Hereafter" (2 parter), "Comfort and Joy" (single episode, the only one in the first two seasons of the show), "Wild Card" (2 parter), and the season finale "Starcrossed" (a 3 parter with Hawkgirl initially betraying the Justice League and then her own people and planet in the end. She resigns from the Justice League and flys off into the sunset). I've watched this Disc at least 4 times because the storylines of "Hereafter" and "Comfort and Joy" kept resonating with me and I needed to see them over and over again. The final storyline, "Starcrossed", was very well done with Hawkgirl revealed as a military spy for her planet to spy on Earth's defence system the previous 5 years. Thanagar sends military envoys to Earth with a story line of wanting to help them defend themselves against their enemy when in fact they wanted to use Earth to destroy their enemy (which would have wiped out Earth at the same time). The storyline is well done, very well portray animatically with bright colours and Hawkgirl donning a new costume. Even good dialogue banter between the superheroes as they have to reveal themselves and don civilian clothing to hide against Thanagar's military as martial law is imposed on Earth. I would certainly recommend buying this DVD for the storeylines on the 4th disc (it has 4 discs along with commentary on certain episodes).

A Work of Art
This is honestly one of the finest seasons of television ever made. It means a lot to me, and everybody should buy it. Maybe then they'll release JLU on Blu-ray too! I remember at the time this season was airing, Superman Returns came out and disappointed everybody. I kept urging people - "there are amazing and emotional and original Superman stories happening right now! Watch Justice League!" but nobody cared, not even a self professed "Superman fan" I met at a party who had no interest in the cartoon. With episodes like "Hereafter", I really think Bruce Timm and co. achieved new artistic heights. That isn't an action/adventure superhero show, it's poetic and meaningful. Everything about season 2 is improved over season 1 (and including past Timm shows), the humor, the dialogue, the plots and plot twists, the animation and fight sequences, the voice acting, ven the color palette is more subtle and richer. This is a perfectly executed season of television. Possibly only topped by the next 2 seasons of Justice League Unlimited. Buy it!

I miss this cartoon
As an adult, my favorite memories of growing up were Sat morning cartoons. My favorite one was the first one to come on so I had to get up earlier than I did when I went to school just to make sure I saw it. (Before VCR's) and it was the Super Friends. Childhood memories of a great cartoon that is cheesy in today's standards. This series blows them away. I got my favorite heroes and arch-enemies going toe to toe and beating the crap out of each other and telling redeeming stories between characters for the most part. Great stories and hours of entertainment. It has been seven years since this series first aired and it is still good. The only close comparison is Young Justice on Cartoon Network (but not for much longer...(sad now)).

This is an amazing season. Friendships/alliances are tested, in the face of hardship and betrayal. Love the theme that is not the powers that make these characters superheroes, it is their character and choice to do good. Lots of rogue villains, especially Darkseid and Joker make an appearance in this season.
