Rexel "Heavy Duty Tacker" No.2101209
I purchased this tacker from Amazon. It arrived on 4th day after placing order, along with Rexel No.23/8 staples I ordered for it. This tacker is top of the Rexel range, aimed at professional users. It is well built and of sturdy metal construction. The only plastic bit that may potentially fail with extended use is the plastic latch that you use to release the part where you insert staples when you run out. That said, I have an old model with the same kind of latch and it has not bust, but then again it has rarely been used.I ordered this tacker to re-upholster dining chairs - tacking fabric to wood. The tacker does a fine job and I am pleased with it, but it does not come with instructions. There is a wheel on the side of the tacker with plus and minus symbols at either end. I do not have the foggiest idea of what the wheel does or when to use it.Oddly enough, I purchased this tacker because I have an old Rexel tacker that has been discontinued and Rexel claimed that they no longer made staples that would be compatible with it, nor could they suggest any staples that would substitute. The old model was a Rexel "Lo-Line", purchased around 14yrs ago. I have noticed that the new Rexel No.23/8 staples do work in the old model, but when I use it with the new staples, to fix fabric to wood, the staple stands proud of the fabric by a fraction of a mm. In other words, I could have just kept using the old model. Even though Amazon offer a very good deal on this product it is expensive and if the staples become discontinued in a decade or so, I do wonder whether it is really worth getting, especially if you own the old "Lo-Line" model.

Good stapler, but needs a lot of welly, or bigger hands, to use easily. I have small hands and often have to use two.

It does what you'd expect it to.
Fired at leat 2,000 staples with this now and it's still going well.Worth noting that I've not found an alternative to the same brand of staples as the gun, but they aren't the most expensive so not a massive issue, but does leave you up the creak when you run out of staples and have to wait for more to get delivered.

Why did they stop making the General Purpose model?
The Rexel General Purpose tacker was the best staple gun in the world, easy to use and could fire a staple perfectly, why the discontinued it is beyond me.Their Heavy Duty is terrible in comparison, very hard to fire a staple and the wee turny wheel for changing the settings is practically useless. Had to return as they couldn't do the job. Bring back the General Purpose!!
