Nearly Perfect On Linux
[EDIT]The bank left/right buttons, rec and mute buttons all work properly in Ardour on Linux. Setup is somewhat easy but I would never have figured it out on my own (deep googling required), but now I know, I know 😃[ENDEDIT]I bought this controller to help me manipulate parameters in synthesizers, effects processors etc as I experiment my way in to electronic music production in Linux. I was encouraged by the sight of the "BANK LEFT/RIGHT" buttons as I believed this would shift the controls across to give more parameter control than there are physical controls. I thought this might be the case, as I have Akai MPD218 which has this feature and works perfectly in Linux. The documentation suggested this as well. BUT THESE WERE FALSE TRUTHS! In actuality, these buttons, as well as ALL the buttons on the MIDIMIX (except the "SEND ALL" button, which does nothing as far as I can tell) actually send MIDI "note" events, rather than "cc". What does this mean? It means that when connected to a synthesizer, the buttons will trigger sounds rathet than toggles. The buttons work like the keys of a MIDI keyboard rather than parameter controls. This is frustrating. Other than this, it's a great tool for Linux MIDI control! I love it and will actually be getting another. In Linux it is Plug 'n' Play, is detected by Linux, ALSA and Jack automatically (Debian 10 "Buster") and is "OMG" so useful. Being able to physically adjust synth parameters rather than using a mouse makes the process of sound exploration REALLY fun.It works in Amsynth, ZynAddSubFX, Helm as well as mappable to effects plugins in Carla ... anything that has MIDI Learn, this will work. And provided it's not connected to a synth, the buttons CAN be used to trigger on/off events (I tested this with SooperLooper).Great! Love it! Will get another (maybe even a third?)!

Not impressed
Definitely doesn't work well with Cubase. They say the lights dont work with Cubase but when I pressed one mute button lights lite up on other buttons. and the fact that the lights do not react correctly means you dont know if the button is activated or not. why do these companies only make provision for Ableton Live? surly you would sell more if thhey worked well with other DAWs.I sent mine back.

Convenient and quick!
Easy to set up on Cubase and Pro Tools. This was so good that I actually bought two of them to put side by side to make a 16 channel mixer. You can use the banks to switch between channels too but I find it works great for me as I use more than 10 channels on average. The knobs are actually not bad and the faders are good quality. Have had this for a few months now and no problems, easily recommend. To all producers: Let's make some epic tunes!

24 knobs......!!!
Although this integrates perfectly with Ableton Live as a control surface (ie: an 8 channel fader, mute, arm, pan & fx send controller), what I wanted was a midi controller with as many assignable items as possible. The Midimix does this really well. I use it to control Ableton stock synths and VST plugin Synths (Cherry Audio and IK Multimedia stuff and others). The 9 sliders, 20 buttons and 24 knobs are all assignable and you can really take control of a VST synth (or whatever) and leave the mouse alone. One gripe - the knobs are a little shallow, fine in the studio but a bit of a worry live I would imagine. It feels like a good quality item and is reassuringly weighty. Seventy quid! Just get one!

Logic Pro integration is very poor
Logic Pro does not detect this device natively, so to add this control surface, you must overwrite your existing configuration file (com.apple.logic.pro.cs) with one provided by Akai (or manually set up every fader and knob yourself from scratch). You can't easily merge it into your existing config, so if you have any other control surfaces, you lose their functionality and have to set them up again. The lights don't work with Logic either. All the photos show that there are button lights for mute and rec arm, but no. Maybe there's a hack, but it's ridiculous that this doesn't work with the manufacturer's configuration.

Excellent compact mixer for computer based music.
I'd had a couple of general purpose midi controllers in the past, but they were rather clunky to set up and took up way to much space.I was after something compact to use in my setup which would be dedicated to my live set in Ableton and this fits the bill perfectly. Didn't need any software setup etc., just plug in and go.It's well made and looks like it'll take a bit of abuse in the laptop bag etc. The only tiny niggle is the rotary knobs are a little bit shallow so may be a bit fiddle for live use, but in the home studio it's fine and otherwise it's a great unit so not going to mark it down.

Good product
I like this controller. It does what it's supposed to at a convenient price and with a good look.Pros:- Plug n' play- Solid construction, lightweight and slim faders and knows that makes it portable.Cons:- LED for buttons work only with specific software (Not my case for Resolume)- Knob's have no texture, what makes it slippy for fry fingers

Excellent device used to control Lightroom editing.
Excellent device used to control Lightroom editing, works really well. Have made a cover template to assist with memory as to what does what. Editing is now twice as fast.
