Stoneware for an oven is designed for the oven heat to warm the outside surface of the stoneware. Stoneware for a microwave is designed for the heat to warm from the inside surface of the stoneware. The construction differences will therefore cause microwave stoneware to fracture from the heat in a conventional oven.
