Clear ice for the price
The materials are cheap but this is a niche item, which probably warrants the price. A silicone tray with holes in the bottom, a cheap plastic basin, and foam insulation. It works exactly as described. Just fill and freeze. For best results you should remove the cubes after 20-24 hours. If you let the whole basin freeze it's a pain to separate the block from the tray, and you risk ripping the tray or cracking the plastic basin. I remove the cubes and store them in a metal bowl, which seems to keep them from melting during defrost cycles. If you find that your ice is cracking when making a drink, let the ice temper in the glass for a minute or two before adding your drink.

READ instructions and reviews - because while worth it!!!
I adore the ice cubes. They are perfect and clear. Now, I will say, I had (and will have) the “MASSIVE CUBE” issue. My review is based on the quality of the amazing cubes. They are stealer. Clear and perfect. I didn’t read the directions the first three times I made cubes. I was confused that there was a giant kaiju cube erupting from all three times. THEN, I read the directions. There is apparently a process I’m too impatient for. But I’m also incredibly willing to admit my failings and not hold that against a great product. Even if you’re like me and use it wrong, 90% of the cubes will be perfect. The 10% that isnt’? I take one for the team and beat it with a hammer in a special sack for a wonderful crushed-ice drink. You’re welcome.

Great for the most part
This clear ice maker works great and, from an efficiency standpoint, it is the best one I have tried. Compared to much bulkier models that make 2-4 cubes at a time, I love the fact that I can make 10 cubes per batch in a relatively small footprint that fits easily into my freezer. As others have pointed out, one cube inevitably "grows" up out of the tray and ends up about twice the height of the others. But this is not a big deal and I cut it in half, giving me 11 cubes, not 10. The only complaint is that I wish the silicon mold was slightly deeper. In theory, it should make perfectly cubical cubes. But unfortunately, it does not sit down far enough in the plastic water tub so it cannot be filled to the top. Thus the resulting cubes come out a little short - and because of capillary action, they are not flat on top, but have a little peak at each top corner. This is a minor issue but the design could be improved to address this.

Can’t remove ice cubes once frozen
Ice cubes are next to impossible to get out of the tray once frozen.

Not completely clear
The ice cubes still have some air bubbles but are way more clear than others I’ve made.

FANTASTIC BUY!
Makes very clear ice cubes! We had a similar and more expensive cube maker that fell apart - that is the ‘old’ cube pictured. The new cube is this cube maker and it’s obviously much clearer and easier to use! Great price and quality product!

works as advertised, the cubes are clear
This tray does deliver clear ice cubes. It take a little bit of work to get the cubes out of the tray but it is well worth the effort.

Don't waste your money, just get the expensive one
Works okay. I was initially happy with this, and my first batch of ice came out perfect (other than the one push-pop cube... see other reviews). Over time, however, it became frustrating to use because the pieces don't fit well together, and combined with the large size makes it nearly impossible to get into the freezer without spilling outright, or creating a small overflow that leads to a pool of frozen water on and around the tray. The only way to avoid this is to significantly under-fill the tray. Either way, you end up with short "cubes". Kind of defeats the purpose of having presentation-worthy ice. When a friend accidentally threw away the foam liner (it looks like packing material), I splurged on a more expensive version, and the difference is night and day. Fifty bucks might seem like a lot for a 4-cube tray, but it is designed so much better that it makes the process a breeze, and even with the lower capacity, I end up with more ice over time because it is so much easier to fill and use without a mess. Don't waste your money on this one.
