I’ve had this meter for more than a year now. Since I discovered the whole science of grounding, it is part of my daily routine. I own two different grounding mats. I have a long one that is always on my bed and a smaller one that I use when I’m either sitting to watch TV, use a computer or just read a book. Wherever I find myself in my home grounding, I have this meter nearby and check it occasionally. In order for this meter to work correctly it is important that not only for you steadily press the button in the front but one of your fingers must be making contact with the metal disc on the back. (See photos). Then and only then will you get an accurate reading. In order to make sure you are grounded you must keep the front button pressed down for a few seconds while simultaneously touching the metal disc on the back. If the green light stays on while you are doing this, it is telling you that are you are grounded. I swear by this little meter so for anyone who is writing a review saying it does not work, they must be A) not using it correctly or B) using a mat that is not correctly grounded or C) using the mat or meter plug in an outlet that is not properly grounded. Believe me, it is not this meter. I have tested it both indoors and outdoors, and I’ve never had problems with it. The only time it will show that I’m not grounded is when I am actually not grounded, maybe because of the mat or I do not have enough contact between my body and the mat. If you are new to grounding and need a meter, this is the one I recommend. I already have two people in my life that I turned onto grounding and this is the meter I recommended they buy.

Works well to test if your body is grounded. I use it every time I change the sheet and put my grounding mat on the bed to make sure the mat still functions correctly. Instructions are clear and easy to follow.

When I first read the instructions, I thought, “Ok, I can test my mats,” and they were grounded, as I expected. But I wanted to do the tests outside, the way the “Earthing” author did: proving he was grounded, proving his buddy was NOT—but when his buddy took hold of the author’s arm, he also became grounded, even though he had shoes on! First, I stuck the end of the cord in the dirt, and could not get it to do anything. Maybe I gave up too quickly, but I thought I needed something longer, and I also had some copper wire that I use for crafts. I wrapped that wire around a spare Allen wrench (who doesn’t have extras of those, lying around!), and “strapped” the metal end of the cord to it. Then I stuck this in the garden dirt, and pushed the button on the meter—I was grounded without shoes, and not grounded when I slipped them on. It works!! I am thrilled, because I can take this anywhere, and show people how you can be grounded to the earth. I love this product, and I highly recommend. :)

Seems a bit expensive but really makes it easy to verify your sheets are grounded. We're happy with it and really like Hooga's product line!

I purchased one to test my multiple mats. It worked for the first couple of days; after that, the green light only came on briefly showing that the battery of the tester was working —also meaning that whatever mat being tested has stopped being grounded. If the green light STAYS on while testing a mat, it means it’s registering electron flow in the mat. Either the tester (probably too poorly made) is malfunctioning or the SIX mats I purchased all stopped working. I think it’s the cheesy tester. I returned it and ordered 2 more, the 2nd one for backup. Received the other 2 astoundingly quick (next day) - but neither worked. I’m planning to buy a more expensive continuity tester. In the meantime, I’ve been using the mats (situated at my favorite places in the house), and I believe my sleep has improved and I have more energy to tackle a bunch of summer projects that kicked off soon after I got the mats.

Short version: This tester works well when properly connected. Connecting the pad and the tester to grounding pins of electrical sockets tests continuity from the pad to the tester but does not verify earth grounding. The diagram in the instructions shows both the pad and the tester connected to "E", which is the earth. Most modern houses have their electrical panel connected to earth ground, but unless that can be verified there is no "proof" that the pad is "earthed".Long version: My wife got a grounding pad as a gift and uses it regularly. I got interested in the concept and began wondering how one could verify if it was actually working. I do not mean if the health claims are accurate, but only if it is indeed connecting the user to earth ground. So, I bought this tester. It is simple to connect and operate, but to verify earth grounding it has to be properly connected.Most modern homes are required to have their electrical system connected to earth ground, so this will not be a problem for most. However, can we be 100% sure, especially in older re-wired homes, the contractor connected it to earth ground, the inspector approved it, and that the connection point has not become corroded or totally disconnected?I have a separate copper ground rod driven 6' into the ground outside my window. I connected the pad to the grounded socket and the tester to the ground rod outside my window and the test showed continuity. The only way that can happen is if the grounding pad is indeed "earthed". If you do not have a ground rod available you can connect the tester to copper pipes that go underground.

I have two grounding mats, both of those were tested as working properly. I also have a grounding pillowcase which no matter where I touched it. It said it was not working. And I just purchased a $90 pair of grounding shoes and the first thing I did was test them. The shoes do not work as claimed so they will be returned. So this isn’t something I’ll be using all the time, I will use it since it works to detect when a grounding product has stopped working. It also is saving me $90 on a pair of shoes that don’t work.

The product arrived on time and it's as described and works as intended. Highly recommended.

Works as it’s supposed to.I have used it to check which of my grounding devices actually work, which is most of them apart from one.I have also use it to find which floor surfaces in my home are grounded.So I now know that I can stand on the kitchen floor or the slate fireplace hearth and will be grounded.And just for fun, I have taken it out and about with me to confirm that I am grounded when standing in the garden barefoot, or when wearing boots but touching a tree or any other living plant or grounded person.Also any metal object embedded into the ground, such as a lamppost. Confirmed that concrete is also grounded, but not asphalt.A very useful piece of kit.

Just got it today and tested it out. It worked fine for me even though reading other reviews had different experience. I did notice that the light came on when I didn't make contact with the grounding sheet but the light went out after a few seconds. The instruction sheet explains that if the light goes off after a few seconds then you are not grounded but this light is also a test for the batteries strength. Very important to follow the instructions!I did test when my sheet was plugged into the grounding outlet and when it was not. The reader worked both times. Price is good too! Hopefully this gadget will still work for me in the long run.
