You don't avoid it, You use a spatula to scrape the smushed potatoes at the bottom of the press into your bowl along with the rest of the potatoes.

Hello, the diameter of holes are 0.3mm. You can make delicious mashed food with this ricer.

Q: Can you put the whole potato with peel in the ricer?

It is most effective and efficient if peel is remove...can suggest to cut potato in half so as not to strain your wrist hand when you mash using the ricer.

Terrible quality product - broke on first use

Very poor quality product. Very weak metal and poor not able to use it even once before it broke. Would not recommend buying this at all. Not doing anything fancy other than using it for ricing boiled potatoes. Waste of money and shipping.
