I like the ingredients.
I am allergic to corn, and most things - including calcium - are derived from corn, or contain it. I have to take calcium as I am on a lifelong medication which has a side-effect of thinning bones. I am glad I found this product, which I am hoping will prevent bone loss, although I really don't know how or when I will know if it's living up to my hopes! My understanding is that the body can only absorb up to 500mg of calcium at a time, so I take one and a half tablets two or three times a day four to six hours apart. They are not the easiest to swallow, but they are not the biggest supplement I take, so it's manageable. I am so glad these are made and available.

Ingredients are important
I don't really know how to judge whether this product is good or not. I don't even know if a bone density test would be able to measure this.

Compared with 3 other Calcium Supplements
I compared Rising and PlantFusion plant based calcium. Both have the same ingredients using algae based calcium. I also compared the ingredients with AlgaeCal Plus. In response to one customer's comment about mislabeling the serving size, it clearing states a serving size is [3 Tabs]. However, on the front of both companies state "1,000mg," which might be where the confusion is, because when looking on the back of the bottle under Supplement Facts, it clearly states one serving is 3 Tabs. Both companies have nearly identical ingredients and amounts in each one. I also compared these two with AlgaeCal Plus which costs more; and falls short on ingredients. I don't like to take pills and 3 is more than I want to swallow. I think grinding them up or splitting them up would help. Also one should consider the amount of calcium in your diet and adjust accordingly. Maybe you've read the alarming study that says taking any calcium is detrimental & is published in the "British Medical Journal." Algae-cal looked at the study and stated the researchers ignored the Calcium-Vitamin D-K2 connection. Check out AlgaeCal's rebuttal!

Label is missleading regarding MG
#1 - I gave it 3 stars only because it's my 1st bottle and I don't know if it works, I will update in a yr.#2- I have no issues with swallowing lg. caps but others might. #3- no flavor no issues. #4- to give the product a fair assessment I think it needs to be taken at least a year. Now for the manufacturer to label this product as 1000mg. is very irritating and infuriating!!! 1000mg. is for 3 caplets. Is there no over sight for misleading or erroneous labeling anymore? You have to read every detail on these labels or you've been had. But they are not the only ones, they all do it. How do they get away with it? That's false representation. That's my opinion and I'm fuming.

3 pills to get the advertised 1000mg
Total scam advertising. Big 1000mg on the front of the bottle along with 180 pills. Makes you think you’re getting 180 doses of 1000mg pills. If you’re elderly and can’t read the small print and take one pill a day, you’re only getting 1/3d of 1000mg.If it takes 3 pills to get 1000mg then the bottle should say 333mg and 180 pills. This is scummy false advertising!

Good plant-based calcium
I had never heard of algal-based calcium before coming across this supplement, so I did a little research. Apparently, Aquamin, the algal calcium, is harvested from South American coastlines. Algae naturally contains trace minerals, which have been reported to help improve bone health. There is a good review of the research in this NCBI article "A Comparative Effectiveness Study of Bone Density Changes in Women Over 40 Following Three Bone Health Plans Containing Variations of the Same Novel Plant-sourced Calcium". This study cites another study that showed algal-based calcium may be better at improving bone health than calcium citrate and calcium carbonate. I also did some research on the other minerals in this supplement. Boron seems to promote healthy joints and bones, and K2 helps to direct and deposit calcium to bones and keeps it out of places where it can collect (like arteries and kidneys).Anyway, I am very happy with this product. I do not have a problem swallowing the pills, although they are a bit on the large size. I usually take the three pills in the morning, at mid-day, and in the evening. I would definitely purchase this calcium supplement again.
