This table is perfectly-sized for a small apartment or in-kitchen tea/coffee area. I was afraid the look of the 'marble' top would be too cheap-looking, but, although it is a laminate/sticker coating, it has a nice sheen and does not look inexpensive at all. The top has the 'marble-looking' coating, and the underside is white coated mdf. I'd recommend using place mats for hot/too cold meals. The metal base and stand are very hefty and have withstood my daily use for breakfast. 4 stars for ease of assembly only because the base is very heavy, otherwise it was simple to assemble.

I bought it for a studio apartment and it looks great in the space, it is easy to store up to 3 stools under it. I added a glass tabletop which makes the marble look real!I am amazed at the negative reviews! My daughter and I have purchased the stools before, and they are very sturdy, holding up well after several months. The tables pictured in some of the reviews are not even this model! e.g. there are no "cross-braces" to break on the table. Contact Nathan James customer service directly, they are very efficient and helpful, and will generally replace anything deflective right away!

My husband and I have coffee at this table each morning. This is a well-made and sturdy table. My friend purchased a real marble table like this at a well-known furniture store, she spilled red wine and now there's a permanent stain on her table. We spill all the time on our Amazon table, and it wipes easily - no staining :)
