Love the concept but frustrated that my specified settings aren't working
I was excited about the prospects that this device offered, a porch light with motion sensor and the ability to capture images of people coming to my front door. And while I love the look and the sturdiness of the light, I have yet to have it operate to my satisfaction. The light itself was easy enough to install and after I downloaded the app, it seemed like it would be easy enough to control and operate, but there are several functions that I cannot get to work which is leaving me frustrated and annoyed. First, via the app, you set up the light to turn on and off at a prescribed time or select a "dusk to dawn" feature. I chose to have it come on at dusk and turn off at 10:00pm because it shines into a bedroom window. But try as I might, and with some suggestions from the Kuna support people, I still cannot make it work. I have to manually turn the light switch off, which basically renders it useless from 10:00pm to when I turn it back on the next day (which I sometimes forget to do). I have tried updating the firmware, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, playing with the settings every which way to Sunday, and still no luck. Second, motion and alerts are not sent consistently. About 60% of the time, it will alert me within a few seconds of an event, the other 40% the alert comes in anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours later. I'm told getting a wifi extender may alleviate that issue so I will try that. If that does the trick and we can get the light to function per my setting preferences, I would be a much happier camper.

Arguably a better choice than Ring... read on
I read several positive and negative reviews before pulling the plug and purchasing three of these.Installation: The basic connection is the same as any other exterior wall mounted light so not much to say there. Kuna does provide a tool to help you set the length of the mounting screws, though I found on all three lights that the screws needed to be set out a bit more than the tool set them at. They also provide a handy hanger so the light can hang while you connect the electrical. A word of advice, if your exterior is rough (stucco) then you might want to temporarily place a towel over the fixture to prevent scratches while it's hanging. I did and I'm certain it would have been badly scratched if I hadn't.Set up: Connecting to my Wi-Fi via the app was super easy. After you connect, don't even bother with the device's app settings. The first thing you need to do is update the firmware. This will take 10 minutes or so and I found if you close the app while it's doing this that it stops, causing you to start over again. I noticed too that the app says it's updating even after it's really done. If you close the settings for that camera and then go back in it then says Firmware Up To Date. So Kuna, please fix this. It occurred on all three devices so it's not me. After the update I made my preference settings.Post Set up: The default sensitivity is set to 95. I had to play with it a bit to get my side garage and front door lights to not give false detection. I cannot figure out what was setting of the side light other than some fruit trees swaying in the wind. I ended up setting my front one to 89 and my side to 90. I've not had one false alert since doing this and it always kicks off when someone is there. Another note to Kuna here. The slider for sensitivity has a range of 0 to 100. You can have a nervous breakdown trying to get the thing to stay on the setting you want. It's too sensitive for the scale. When you lift your finger it tends to change from the desired setting. I also question the need for a 0 to 100 scale since I suspect you'll never go lower than 85 or above 95. Maybe a 0 to 20 scale would be sufficient plus the ability to directly type in a setting number? Also, please, please, please add a switch in the app to quickly turn detection off. I'm having guests over this weekend and I don't want the back yard detection going off and recording every few minutes. I can turn off the notifications, but it will still be recording videos like crazy, which would be eating up your server space!. I also don't want to just power it off.Additional: Their price plan is not as competitive as Rings. Ring is $10/month for 6 month video storage for unlimited devices. They also warranty your devices for life under this plan with free replacement. Kuna on the other hand only gives you 14 days video storage for $9.99 for only 4 devices. To get this price you pay annually, otherwise it's $14.99/month. Yes, initial cost is $100 less than a ring, but I think you can do MUCH better with these plans. I hope you're reading this Kuna. Kuna did add Artificial Intelligence (AI) this Wednesday, but you only get it if you're on their $240/year Ultimate plan (can you say OUCH? $240, really????)). They say it will be available with the $9.99 plan in the next couple of weeks. Their AI will detect cars and people. It sounds like they are trying to develop this technology even further, so they got Ring beat in this area... for now. HOWEVR, I suspect there will be additional cost for the AI to be added to the plan. I don't see anything on their website regarding AI and its cost. I have the Ultimate Plan for the 2-week trial, but the AI doesn't work with that, which makes no sense to me. Coming back to cost... if AI will cost more then these plans will be exceedingly expensive given what you get in comparison to Ring's plans...IMHO.Overall I'm very satisfied, though I only got my last camera light installed yesterday. Only time will tell how they will perform over the long haul. My main complaint is plan cost. Also, I don't know if it's Amazon or Kuna, but pricing has been all over the map this week. I paid $158 each. Then the next day the same ones were $179. Today they're $149 (not too happy about that). Set the darn price and leave it! The companion lights were $129 when I bought my camera lights and now they're $79. I'll be buying two of them soon. One last word to Kuna... I think your selection of lights is perfect when it comes to style. However, can you please make a post mount light in the same styles? I have four more lights mounted to stucco fence posts in my front yard. Finding similar lights to match will be difficult to impossible. I'll happily buy four more if you make them.

Kuna Companion Lights Stop Pairing After a Couple of Years
I purchased three Kuna companion lights when I purchased a couple of the Kuna security lights (with camera). Everything worked great the first couple of years. I loved that the lights automatically came on at dusk and off at dawn!! No more turning the light switch on and off each day!! My first companion light stopped pairing a few months ago. I now have to leave the companion light on all day and night because it uses the same light switch as my Kuna with the camera. If I turn it off, I also turn off the Kuna with camera. I contacted Kuna for help. They had me try a few things but the companion would not pair. They said my warranty period was over so there was nothing more they could do. I thought maybe that one had a defect so bought another one (not installed yet). When I came home the other day, I noticed I had a second companion light out (one of the original 3). I went through the steps to try to get it to pair but it would not (just like the first one)!! Now I have two of the original 3 that stopped pairing so they stay on all day!! I really really loved this Kuna system but I can't keep replacing companion lights every few years. I seldom write reviews but wanted to share my experiences with those considering this system. I have NOT had this issue with the ones that have cameras.

Good when it works.
Update: Nov 3, 2017After being ignored, a Kuna customer service finally helped getting the unit replaced. The replacement came today and so far its working well. The replacement unit is actually faster than the previous unit. We'll see how long it last. The unit worked for the first 6 months then started going off line intermittently! Emailed support and all they say was I'm on a non standard channel. This after I told them that the problem only started 2 weeks or so.To date Oct 7 the unit would go offline intermittently! Tried all 3 standard channel to no avail. I now paid months in advance for nothing as the unit is useless for security puposes.Follow up emails to Kuna is now being ignored....Looking at other feedbacks, it seems I am not alone in this predicament. And they want the audacity to charge monthly fee for a useless unit!

The daytime video quality is fine. As mentioned by other reviewers
The HD live feed is only 720p, which is apparent at night video quality. I also have the Arlo Q for indoor use, the Arlo Q has amazing night vision and ease of use. The daytime video quality for the Kuna is fine. As mentioned by other reviewers, the camera sometimes doesn't pick up motion. For example, the camera we installed near the garage did not detect the car (by light nor sound) coming into the driveway at night. However, in the morning, that same camera was able to detect the car (by sound) coming out of the garage. I think the inability to detect was caused by the speed of the car.

Almost 5 stars
Would get 5 stars if it supported Apple Homekit. I ended up putting a LIFX bulb in the unit so that I could at least schedule and control the light using Siri/ Homekit. May eventually replace it with the Brinks Array Homekit compatible fixture when and if that product becomes available.

Kuna security light
So far so good. I used you tube kuna installation to install. All very easy. There's lots of settings on your mobile within the kuna app to.change sensitivity. Haven't had the need to use I cloud yet. And noticed you get a 14 day trial of.their software so will see what happens when I have to or if I have to pay kuna monthly app subscription. Camera is very good quality. And can be adjusted to different angles. Light can be turned on and off with mobile app.if you leave main light switch turned on. Night vision good. Will test today when out and update this.

Kuna is great!
Kuna Smart Home Security Outdoor Light & Camera - Traditional Bronze Amazing deal! I was shipped the wrong one by mistake (Craftsman) but I decided to keep it as it was a very good deal. Overall, the fit and finish is amazing! Works as advertised, with the exception of it sometimes not picking up movement.Installation was a breeze as they provide you with everything that is needed including marrets. They also include a hook so that you can install this unit without the aid of another person. This is my second Kuna and could not be happier with it!
