Diamond in the Rough (The Diamond Trilogy Book 1)

After the teaser that the novella gave us I was looking forward to reading this book and personally it didn’t disappoint . It’s set a few years after Holly & Elijah met in Paris and after the events of that meeting both hadn’t seen or heard from one another since . Now both sisters Holland ( Holly) and London are grown up and have an apartment in New York , London is travelling the world doing her thing and Holly has become a writer of teenage fantasy novels . Although they live together they’re frequently apart but usually check in with one another and of course their parents . Now it would seem Holly has been unable to contact her sister for sometime ,not wanting to worry their parents Holly keeps this fact from them , and decides to go to look for her . Holly contacts the American embassy and makes arrangements go to Paris to look for her , sitting next to her on the plane is a very handsome man called Adam they have a brief conversation before they land in which she tells him the reason for her trip . Whilst on her way out of the airport she is kidnapped by Adam and thrown into a cell but she’s not alone, as there’s someone else in the dark cell with her . Although she doesn’t know it yet , she met this person before when she was last in Paris it’s non other than Elijah North the one who gave her her first kiss . As the story continues we find out that London ,Elijah, Holly and Adam are all linked ,how ?? well I’m not saying you’re just going to have to read the book yourself 😉........Although Holly’s backstory is quite normal as she has a loving family ......although her parents story of how they met is another dark twisted erotic tale !! ..... I digress, Elijah’s upbringing was in complete contrast . In fact it was horrible at a very tender age he witnessed his extremely violent father killing and disposing of his mother ,a fact he’s kept to himself to date his two brothers still think she had run off . The violence that all brothers suffered at the hand of their father was sickening and It’s led him to be a very complex character and he is now involved in something that he’s going to have great difficulty in getting out from 😳. ..... As always Skye is excellent at writing very dark twisted erotic novels with a good helping of violence thrown in for good measure, not for the faint hearted but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each one of her novels including this one . As expected the book ends on a cliff hanger .... I’m so looking forward to seeing how this will pan out 😉 I do hope Holly & Elijah can have a HEA ❤️❤️.

I enjoyed this read, but felt at times that it seemed all over the place and inconsistent. The mc’s meet as youngsters in Paris during a diamond theft, then later as grown ups, again in Paris, but in a cell in a castle. They escape, only to be housed in a safe house in Paris. London, one of the mc has lost her sister, hence her going to Paris to look for her. There is a cliff hanger and I have to admit to being disappointed that I couldn’t just jump straight to the next book.

This book was really sexy and it has so many twists and turns. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series. It was a bit different to what I expected but actually turned out to be a better story.

I love it dark and Diamond in the Rough delivers. Oh Elijah and Holly they are just so hot together.💖I cannot wait for Gold Mine.Bev G

I read this book as part of a box set with different authors in. I thought it was ok but it ended on a cliff hanger which is my pet hate. I am not invested in it enough to want to buy books 2 and 3 to find out the ending.

Okay, so here’s the thing.I love to live in lives that aren’t mine, ya ken whit a mean?We all do.But while these stories are often unlikely I still need them to be at least a little believable, right?So I find myself torn about how to rate this book.The writing was great.The world-building and backgrounds were awesome.The characters were well put together and the sex was hot but…Picture this: You have been kidnapped and dumped in a dark cell with a stranger you can barely see.You are starving and desperate for water. You’re scared and hurting. Then some guy comes along and tells this stranger in the cell with you that he has to make you orgasm in order to ‘earn’ food and water.That in its self isn’t what I had an issue with.It was the fact that the dude had her belting out an orgasm using his knee in UNDER A COUPLE OF MINUTES!!!And then later he’s basically been starved of food and water for days, in serious physical pain and fighting infections in his wounds. He’s exhausted and bleeding but STILL MANAGES TO 'LOVE' HER LIKE A BEAST!!Again though, the story had me hooked, lol.I loved the suspense and although the sexual situation was not quite as realistic as I’d like, the actual act was hot.FINAL THOUGHTS on DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH by Skye WarrenIt had some great twists and turns that I did not see coming and I was invested all the way to the end. I’m even hoping there might be more stories for the brothers of the main character later.I’m gonny give this one 3.5 Stars!

The first part of this book was amazing, very Skye Warren-y. An innocent young girl named Holly, who loves to read and seems to think she's too bland to get the attention of the opposite sex, falls in love with a mysterious boy while she's on vacation with her family in Paris. Their interactions were dangerously hot and full of tension and their chemistry was off the charts. When they parted ways, I just knew this wasn't going to be the end of them.Eight years later Holly gets kidnapped and thrown into a dark cell with another male who claims she's in danger, even though her captor says otherwise.Well, this second part didn't work for me. There was insta-love I could not explain and the sex scenes were rushed to the point I wished there weren't any of them. Still, I enjoyed some of the plot points, but the characters' appeal was long gone to me by then.Diamond in the Rough was a miss for me but it clearly wasn't for many people. Maybe it was a "It's not you, it's me" situation but, either way, I'm not going to continue with the series
