Thank you for your question. Please kindly note that our PGI-250XL CLI-251XL -6 Pack (including Gray ink cartridges) is not compatible with Canon Pixma MG5520 printer. Our PGI-250XL CLI-251XL -5 Pack and 15 Pack is compatible with Canon Pixma MG5520 printer.

Q: Any damage to the printer from these cartridges from long term use? My printer is only printing at 50% opacity with these cartridges.

No printer damage and outstanding photos in three years of ownership of a Canon PIXMA ip8720. However, in reading Amazon's low-grader's issues, several were related to excess, or not enough black, and black is a major factor of opacity. So why not replace the black cartridge with one made by Canon? If the problem corrects, you can ask E-Z ink for a complete refund.

Q: How quickly do printed images fade?

Don't know yet. Printed about 20 pgs so far and all is good. 1st time using this product instead of manufacturers ink.
