Perfect fit & Easy Install
This was an upgrade for my 1970's Mossberg. This was an easy install and a perfect fit. A more positive "click" when engaging/disengaging and the bright color adds to the ease of use.

Great replacement for OEM safety!
Fit my dads old 12gauge pump perfectly! The installation was a pain in the rear, but that was due to gun design not part issues. This item was a great value. It fit perfectly and works great!

Easy to use, read below....
Buy it now! The stock safety is a bitch to use, that's why you are here. I should of done this years ago!!!!!! Installation on the 500- read it all first. Remember, unloaded check, check again, safety on, open action all the way, safety is on, use a wire tie or a few bread twist ties and hold tension back on the trigger, this will keep the inner mechanism from falling in side when you take screw off( if it does fall in- no big deal just more time - a breakdown and cleaning now that your going in-) keep gun up right, a vise or a few gallon water jugs sandwich it. When you take screw off keep down pressure because tiny spring and ball bearing wants to fly off. Set up something under to catch all if you are clumsy. You will use the backing plate under the switch again for the new switch. Dab a little gun greese under and side of all. Some loctite or similar recommend put on screw. Easy as you apply a little pressure to all and thread screw in. Done? Yup fantastic told ya!

Function 100%, but sharp edges need rounding....
I have bought 5 of these so far and they all fit and function perfectly on every 5xx Mossberg model I've tried them on from very early single action bar 500 to some modern 590s. It's only 4-stars from me because the top edges are very sharp. I had to put them in a vise and round the top edges with a file to make them usable. If having to do that, or the appearance of raw aluminum where you file will bother you, look for another option. But if you're OK with a little file work and unfinished edges, these work very well. If I acquire another Mossberg in the 5xx family, I will immediately order and install another one of these.

Better quality than the stock one
Definitely an upgrade to your Mossberg shotgun. The stock safeties are notorious for sticking and not being adjustable due to a one-way safety screw. These have a nice adjustable Allen bolt so you can tighten or loosen your safety over time which is nice. The large thumb-tab also makes it much easier to toggle, especially with gloves on. They're also aluminum instead of plastic, which should last longer. I bought a Mossberg so I can still use it at 99, and I'm not sure why the new ones have so many plastic components compared to my dad's Vietnam era one. My one note is installation is not the easiest. During installation, my safety fell into the receiver and I ended up having to disassemble the trigger mechanism to get it back. Some forums suggested laying the shotgun on its side during installation to prevent this from happening, but I'm not sure how well this would work. Also, to remove the original safety screw I found it works well to put a piece of duct tape over it and then unscrew it as a normal screw through the tape.

Fit, works. Big improvement over OEM.
Fit fine, works fine. I replaced the broken one easily, but I did have to do a tear down because internal parts shifted. I don't know why none of the suppliers I looked at include the little metal slider plate underneath the stock safety. Mine needed to have wear ridges smoothed off to make the slide work smoothly. I did not even try to replace the detent ball as that appeared to be locked into the receiver. I also cannot figure out way Mossback would make the OEM safety so flimsy.

Big ugrade from the original, at a fair price
This is a big upgrade from the stock plastic safety, in both design and durability. I have bought 5 so far, as I decided to upgrade all my 500s. Installation is not hard as long as you take the necessary steps and precautions.

Big button!
Fits like stock. Allows for big hands to handle the safety more effectively.

Works As Designed
I would have given this product 5 stars but one minor flaw. The little detent ball is a bit to small and made it quite hard to move the switch. I put the factory one back in and now it's fine. Other than that the product inself is good. Seems well made and works fine.

Did not work
Poor operation once installed safety was inoperable and had to reinstall original stock one if I could give it 0 stars I would

Did not work well on my 590 Shockwave - Stiff Safety
The build quality is fine, but the screw or detent ball was too long / too large for my Shockwave 590 and caused the safety to be really stiff. I replaced it with an S&J Jumbo safety and its now smooth again.
