Insane price to performance and great for the intermediate home lab users
Server came well packaged with dense foam and had two included power cables for the redundant PSU's. I admittedly was very nervous about having a server shipped with the drives installed as they would be subject to every impact the server received but so far no drive failures. There were not (12) 3TB Drives in the server as stated but instead there were (9) 4TB drives so it equals out in terms of storage space. From what I can tell most of the drives have about 1 year of usage on them according to SMART. Since only 9 of the 12 bays have drives in them the 3 empty caddys are actually blanks so you'll need to buy the appropriate caddys if you wish to expand into the last 3 bays. The server did come with a BCDVideo 15gb USB Flash drive connected to the motherboard which leads me to believe these are refurbed BCDVideo servers which is perfectly okay with me. For the price, this is an insane deal for your homelab and is a great starter but beware of possibly expensive and complicated hardware if anything fails on these aging beauties. If you pick this up, I recommend taking some time to go through all of the bios functions, the iLo and HP Smart provisioning to learn the capabilities of the server. You can also find iLo 4 advanced keys online for free to unlock all of the iLo functions. 10/10 would buy again.

old server has issue but, excellent after sales support
In spite of issues I gave it 5 star because:1. I expect some issues in old server. - which I got.2. I also expect an excellent after sales - which I got.following items went bad and have been replaced by seller:1. Array card P8402. Array battery3. Array Cache4. One bad HDDI am still in process of setting this up and disks are spinning. IT seems few more die sooner or later. I hope to keep getting excellent service for 90 days as promised after sale.Satisfied, but I may think of buying a new server in future...

DId not work and I still have not got my money back
The day I received it I tried to connect it and it did not work at all. I returned it the same day via UPS. Per the tracking number Amazon received it the very next morning now 2 weeks later I still do not have the refund so that I can purchase a new one. Telling me to wait 30 days for something that has been returned the very next day is an interruption and huge inconvenience to my business. Their slowness is causing me to lose money in my business that I just started and is very much need for the Grand Opening.

Good, but can be a challenge.
This was quite the learning experience. First, you get what you pay for and this is pretty inexpensive all things considered. Out of the box, one of the mounting tabs was bent. This is the first time I've needed to use vice-grips to install a server but it straightened out okay. I plugged it in and connected the ILO and everything looked good and functional. Then I started looking at the disks installed. All except for one are 4Tb drives, the one is a 500Gb drive. It's a complete hodgepodge of 7.2K and 5.9K drives. That's fine for my application. Replacing Windows with Ubuntu was very painful. I finally got it to work with a UEFI bootable FAT filesystem thumbdrive containing Ubuntu 24.04 server bits. This took me two days to figure out since all of my other servers have been very forgiving. It's alive now and I expect it to serve me well (so to speak).Update---Turns out they are all 7.2K 3Tb drives, the labels on the front are what's random. Okay. Net available storage is approximately 16Tb (12x3Tb / 2 for RAID 1 striping).

Excellent value! Clean, fully functional after minor fixes.
Problems- P840 card had two loose SAS connections, so that only 4 of 12 drives were connected. Fixed by re-connecting SAS at card.- Processor package heatsink was not fully tightened? So thermal paste was thick and not spread out, at the lowest power setting (1.2 GHz) temperatures were high (70 C).Bonus- 3 TiB drives were actually 4 TiB drives!Perfectly clean server inside. Cosmetic scratches, no bent or broken parts. Very happy with this deal.

Be prepared to install, repair and replace components
Ordered 3 of these and the vendor appears to be responsive to issues but this was my experience:1 of 3 was bootable out of the box...2 P840 cards are bad2 of 3 had 64GB of ram...not 128GBThe hard drive capacity met or exceeded what was advertised. However, in 2 of 3 it was configured as 10 x 4TB instead of 12 x 3TB...the number of drives affected RAID configurations.1 had loose, "floating" components...CPU not clamped and heatsink not installed, a heatsink spring (from P840) loose inside case, PCI bracket loose inside case, P840 heatsink loose inside case with no mounting pinsThe one up and running is currently building an array and windows server is installed...

Great Product at a great price and fantastic customer service
Had a minor problem getting this system set up and made the dreaded call to customer service at 6:30PM. Left a message and expected to hear from them next day, or never... To my surprise they called me in about an hour with a very helpful technician that resolved my technical issue very quickly and even provided software assistance which was entirely outside his scope of required service. Highly recommend!

Fantastic service!
Item arrived a week earlier than projected. Seller sent me a message asking about my power cable preference, and included what I needed in my order, most sellers wouldn't bother. Item arrived exactly as described, running perfectly, with 12 good hard drives. Currently have the latest Ubuntu installed, and is sitting in my rack running like a dream. Seller was quick to respond about extra parts I'm looking for also. Great value, Great packaging, great service, what else could a nerd ask for! EDIT: I've had 4 drives fail on me in the last 4 days on a raid 6, not sure what the deal is, but thats 12 TB I'm down so far, I may need to buy new drives so I don't have to reinstall freebsd again.
