Q: Can you use this to shield against thick tree roots growing toward the side walk? In our area the sidewalks get cracked and lifted due to tree roots

No, it is not large enough or strong enough to block tree roots. This shield does not go deep enough into the soil to even block weeds or grass.

Q: How do you make it a curve?

We returned them. Very brittle. Broke/cracked no matter how we put them in. (Rubber mallet, making a trench first etc...)

Q: Any kind of warranty on these choppers? a bunch on mine broke when tapping in with a rubber mallet - never happened with my original purchase.

I thought they had a warranty, but you best check with the people you ordered them from, I think the company that made them had a warranty
