And exciting read keeps you on your toes
This was the third in the series and it was a great read for all books. From the moment you start reading until the end it keeps you just on the edge of your seat. What a great writer look forward to any of his other books. Thank you

Time To Hunt
First time that I read Gervais. It was a good page turner. I will read him again. I certainly recommend this book.

Pure pabulum
I read all three of the books in this series. The first one was borderline okay. I thought perhaps they would get better as the series progressed. Don't know why I thought this, but I did. But, as happens with all the so-called military/special ops/thriller writers these days, the series was all downhill. The last book in the series . . .Well, you know where I'm going with this. The "emotional" side of the story quickly ratchets out of obligatory angst (of one kind or another), into daytime soap-opera mush.I suspect that the author might have the chops to express what he actually knows and, more important, what he actually feels. But all that would take time. It would take serious thought, and even more honesty, about what he knows, what he doesn't know, and what he thinks he knows. It would take a ton of rewrites. The sound of the language would have to fit the character and the action and the landscape. The sound would have to ring true to the author, and not be influenced by what sounds right to agents and editors and friends. Plot really doesn't matter. There are no new plots. What matters is what happens to the characters. What matters is how well the author can put the reader inside the skin of his characters. Killing someone, for example, can be merely video-game interesting, a tiny, vicarious rush, or killing someone can be as emotionally and as intellectually consuming as the opening scene in Man's Fate. It can be as hair raising and as humid as watching real Khmer Rouge armed with real AK's ride a real APC through an archway in The Killing Fields . The author, if he is to be a storyteller in the truest sense, must not only inform, but also change the reader's perception of reality. It doesn't matter if the reader is a former Special Ops operative or a bored housewife or (I don't know, maybe it's possible) a teenager sitting in class, stunned by boredom. Otherwise, this is just a third-rate, made-for-streaming thriller. No thought required. Pages barely read, or skipped. The story the antithesis of food for thought. The ending pure pabulum.I wasted my time. That's on me.My advice: don't waste yours.

Okay, but that ending, though!
I was NOT prepared for the level of violence Simon Gervais used throughout this book. However, Hunt and company did what they had to do, so 🤷🏾♀️. When I got to the last 40 pages or so, I just kept thinking, "There's not enough time left!!" Really a solid ending to a great series, and I would definitely not be disappointed with a fourth Pierce Hunt book!

very good
A typical Pierce Hunt novel with some unexpected turns. Entertaining, but a bit dragged out with a variety of plot additions.

It was time
This one gets the full montie for All The intrigue and hidden ways that kept the main boss behind the scenes . Too many very good people were eliminated for a lost cause that was never accomplished. Our main characters loved on to fight another day. This one earned the top stars rating in this readers opinion. Thanks for all the entertainment.

Thriller with a twist
Gervas keeps you guessing in this action packed thriller. Hint and Carter are heroic characters with soft sides that make them likable. And the bad guy becomes the good guy in the end.

Exciting, action packed story
This is a great trilogy. It is very well written and the action scenes, of which there are many, are easy to follow, which is not the case in many novels. The characters are sympathetically written and I sometimes felt sorry for some “baddies”!I really enjoyed these stories and loved Pierce and Anna and co. I particularly enjoyed the strong women and girls in the plot.Simon is an excellent writer and I’ll be reading all his books. I started with “The Last Protector” which is another great story.

Well written but a bit too busy...
Enjoyed the book and the conduct of the various members of each sector positioned against each other. Got a bit too busy in the 2nd half of the book - and for the head of the CIA to be the villain was a step too far for me. JMA
