Inner Sticky Rice Steamer Cooking Bamboo Basket for Insert in Rice Cooker (Basket Diameter 7").

Making sweet sticky rice in a rice cooker. Works great. Much easier than traditional steaming setup. Let's the cooker do the work.

I had to steam the basket empty for a while to get all the impurities out, I changed the water several times. To make mango sticky rice I did the following: Soak the sticky rice 8 hours. Put a piece of cheese cloth in the basket and dump the rice inside. Steam the rice 20 or 25 minutes, use the cheese cloth to lift the cooked rice out of the basket and dump in a bowl. Immediately dump in your coconut mixture on top of the rice and gently stir it up, but reserve 1/4 cup to garnish at the end. The coconut mixture is: 1 cup coconut milk, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, heat mixture enough to dissolve salt and sugar. Cut up mango pieces and toast a few pinches of sesame seeds. Now just put a scoop of rice for each person with the mango on top a bit of remaining coconut milk mixture and sprinkle with sesame seeds!

There was a lot of dust when I unpacked it. I rinsed it off, and left it on the counter to dry. The next morning, there was more dust. So I immersed it in hot water, and tons more dust came off. Plus, the cause floated up: five small black bugs came floating to the surface of the water. Moreover, the dimensions in the first bullet point of the product description are wrong. It says "Size : Diameter 7"x4.5". Made of bamboo woven." But the actual dimensions for mine are 7.5" x 4.75". I had hoped to use this in a Zojirushi rice cooker, but it doesn't fit. Finally, while the workmanship is actually pretty good, there are enough small holes in the bottom of the basket that are large enough that I think several individual grains will fall through. Not a fatal defect, but the quality of the basket bottom doesn't match the rest of the weaving. I'll see if the bugs died after a long soak and steaming. They should, but I was disappointed.

I recieved my baskets today, they came packaged nicely. They are beautifally made. No problems with them. I plan on cleaning and using them this week. Excited to do so.

Your supposed to use cheese cloth or tea towel inside bamboo steamer or even wax paper to prevent rice fall out or sticking to bamboo steamer or it will be difficult to clean
