Q: What is the trick to get your feet into the straps easily? They tend to hang upside-down?

The trick is to keep trying until you get the hang of it. You can start with having one of your feet in already and the other can go in two way (of which I know). The first, you can use the tip of your toe on front part to tip the strap towards your foot and that point you can slide your foot in. The second, you can use the tip of your foot to get into the strap while it’s upside down. If you keep riding enough you’ll be comfortable enough doing it both ways without even looking.

Q: Are the straps, possibly prone to wearing out, replaceable? These pedals seem to be just what I'm looking for.

The straps appear to be well made. Straps can be replaced easily and are sold with or without the pedals.

I use these on all three of my recumbent trikes, one TerraTrike and two Catrike. As long as you keep the straps snug, these are a great alternative to power grip pedals or egg beaters. Over the years, I have broken both feet often enough and bad enough to require surgery. When riding, I need to move my feet slightly to alleviate pressure on the tender spots. These pedals do the trick; they keep my feet safe from "leg suck" but still allow some movement and adjustment. Trike on!
