5++ Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED will not be this story. This is one you will want to read from start to finish—and likely more than once. The present-day tale of Georgia and Noah captivates with its ups and downs and touches of angst and heartache. The bittersweet story of Scarlett and Jameson is sure to evoke strong emotions, especially heartbreak with many tears, but also moments of sweetness and joy. What truly sets the narrative apart are the unexpected twists and turns that will leave you breathless; some may even provide a sense of peace to balance the sorrow. This is an incredible read that even now brings me to tears as I am writing this. The well-drawn characters and highly emotive writing will draw you in from the beginning and keep you thoroughly engaged until the very end. The seamless transitions between the present and the past make it easier to navigate through the emotional challenges each character faces. Moreover, how it is written makes it even harder to put down, as you’ll be eager to find out what happens next for each couple. I can’t recommend this highly enough but be warned to keep plenty of tissues on hand, and if you read it before bed, you won’t be getting much sleep.

The love letters exchanged during WWII were particularly moving, offering a tender and heartfelt glimpse into a romance shaped by distance and duty. The historical aspect of flees and those that got them where they needed to be were among my favorite parts of the book and have sparked a deeper interest in reading more about that era. The dual timelines were well-executed, and the back-and-forth between the two main characters in the present-day storyline kept the narrative engaging. Their chemistry and emotional development felt authentic and added depth to the story. While the book shines in its historical detail and emotional beats, the twist at the end added an unexpected and satisfying layer. Overall, it was an enjoyable and thoughtful read that blends romance, history, and intrigue in a memorable way.

‘The Things We Leave Unfinished’ is a story told in two different timelines. We have Scarlett’s timeline in England during World War II, and Georgia’s timeline set in the present in Colorado, US. Their lives couldn’t be more different, and from the very first page of this book I was hooked and desperate to find out what was going to happen with these characters. The characters in this book are so fun to get to know. First we have Georgia, a newly divorced twenty eight year old who lost almost everything in her divorce. She now realizes her life was a scam. She moves back to her great grandmothers estate in Colorado and meets the arrogant but handsome bestselling author Noah. As an author, Noah hopes to finish Georgia’s great grandmother Scarlett’s latest novel. But Georgia and Noah want very different things. And it was exciting to read about their journey and developing relationship. And then we have Scarlett, a hardworking woman ahead of her time who meets Jameson, a handsome pilot during World War II. Both Georgia’s and Scarlett’ story hooked me on from the start. They are two different love stories, but both equally beautiful, intense and they both have some toe curling chemistry. And I simple couldn’t get enough. I especially loved how we get to read Scarlett’s story, and read how her great granddaughters life is decades later. It just felt so special. This book is filled with romance, and a huge twist I for sure didn’t see coming. And it left me feeling super emotional.. but in a good way. I grew up listening to the stories about my great grandfather who died during World War II, and I thought about him a lot while reading this book. It made it all the more special. ‘The Things We Leave Unfinished’ is a book that will stay with me for a long time. It really touched me, and I desperately want to tell my grandma about it. Funny, how some stories can touch you so. I’ll definitely be reading more books by Rebecca Yarros.

The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros 5 stars Spice: 🔥🔥/5 I am going to have a huge book hangover. MAJOR book hangover after reading this masterpiece. If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. I have apparently been living under a rock because I hadn’t found Rebecca Yarros yet. I did everything in my power to read this book over the weekend. I have a paperback, which I prefer, but it is much harder to read a paperback versus e-book when I have two small kiddos running around. However, I tried to fit it in at any space I possibly could. All adult responsibilities, besides keeping the children alive, clean, and fed, was dedicated to this book. I was not prepared for the two love stories (some could say three at the end) that I was about to embark upon. Rebecca takes us back to the 1940s as well which is something I did not expect. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would like it since it hinges on historical fiction a tad, but she did a fabulous job at creating that love story and putting the reader right in the war with them. Scarlett and Jameson were destined and fated. Their story was all consuming, and heartbreaking living through the war. My heart burst for them. The banter between Noah and Georgia was top tier. The slow burn and sexual tension between them was palpable and I couldn’t wait for them to kiss. She built that up to the perfect anticipation. I do love when we get to step into the book world within a book as well. I always get excited when one of the main characters is an author. It doesn’t hurt when it’s Noah. YUM. The ending of the book took me by surprise and will leave me thinking about this book and characters for a long time. Have you ever read a book so beautiful and powerful that you’ve been reluctant to put your feelings about it into words, only to find that, over time, you’ve forgotten many of the emotions you wanted to express? That’s exactly what happened to me with this book. I picked it up without knowing it would become one of my favorite reads from last year. The letters in this story were both heartwarming and heartbreaking, and the chemistry and emotional tension in both love stories were intense. Though I anticipated certain parts of the ending, I couldn’t help but wish for things to turn out well for everyone. This book made me feel as if I were mourning the loss of a real person—it made me cry, laugh, shatter my heart, and ultimately heal it. Each love story was written with such beauty, and I’m so grateful that some characters found the happy ending they deserved. The way the struggles, pain and separation caused by wars were conveyed made me feel everything the characters were experiencing. Even now, my heart still aches when I think of how it ended for some, and my mind is still tangled in the emotions, but if I could give this book a million stars, I would.

It was delivered so fast and came in good condition. I ordered it in the morning and it was delivered the same day. I have only read three chapters, but so far it's really good. It's a big book.

Wow, mein erstes Buch von Rebecca Yarros und ich starte mit "The Things we leave unfinished" mit einem Knall. Das Buch hab ich zwar schon öfter auf Insta gesehen, aber nicht weiter beachtet, bis zur Programmvorschau für die deutsche Übersetzung. Und OMG hat die mich überzeugt. Die Geschichte wird auf zwei Ebenen erzählt. Einmal in der Zeit von Georgia und Noah in der jetztigen Zeit, und einmal aus Sicht von Scarlett und Jameson zu Zeiten des zweiten Weltkrieges. Georgia ist die Ur-Enkelin von Scarlett die sich um die Angelegenheiten ihrer verstorbenen Ur-Großmutter (Scarlett) kümmert, was auch bedeutet zu entscheiden, wie das unvollendete Manuskript von Scarlett beendet werden soll. Wo Noah ins Spiel kommt. Seines Zeichens zwar ein großer Bestsellerautor, aber Scarlett hat nicht viel von ihm gehalten, doch nun soll er die Geschichte beenden. Und da stellt sich die Frage wie. Ein Happy End oder doch ein realitisches trauriges, da ja auch das "Ende" von Scarlett selbst traurig war. Die zweite Zeitebene die erzählt wird, ist zu Zeiten von Scarlett und Jameson, wie die beiden sich kennen lernen als Pilot und Einsatzplanerin (?) im zweiten Weltkrieg, wie ihre Romanze gegen viele Regeln verstoßen hat und doch konnte nichts die beiden trennen. Aber auch die Freundschaft/Verbundenheit zwischen Scarlett und ihrer Schwester Constance spielt eine sehr große Rolle. Beim Lesen wusste ich streckenweise gar nicht, welche Geschichte ich jetzt lieber folgen wollte, entweder der von Georgia und Noah oder der von Scarlett und Jameson, da diese sich innerhalb eines Kapitels immer abgewechselt haben. Zudem die Briefe am Anfang jedes Kapitels zwischen Scarlett und Jameson, hatten schon was berührendes. Teilweise zum Schluss so emotional geschrieben, dass Tränen geflossen sind TT, das Herz gebrochen und wieder zusammen gesetzt. Eine Überraschungen kommen vor. Einfach toll erzählt.
