DuratoolD03285 Third-Hand Clamp Tool with Magnifier & Soldering Iron Holder

I wasn't going to write a review as its not an expensive item but after seeing a 2 star review without and text I had to do something to give my opinion.The base is nice an heavy so hold the items well when working, the outside arms are set so cannot move left or right along the bar but the joints offer plenty of movement to hold anything I needed to hold. There is a decent magnifying glass if needed as well as a soldering iron holder which I have not used as I have a soldering station. There is a small soldering sponge, again I do not use this as I preffer a wire cleaner.The screws that hold the arms in place tighten up strong enough so items being held do not move.For its price I can not expect more.

A few points to be made:1. The arms do not tighten up, causing it to fall under any amount of weight.2. The base is not heavy enough to use the soldering iron attachment. It just tips over.3. The magnifying glass is too heavy. Using it makes the whole thing fall over.

The arms are stiff and the base is not heavy enough to support a soldering iron your just as likely to burn your testicles with it as it falls over (this nearly happend) other tha that the arms hold wires etc just keep it light you'll be fine...

Brilliant little tool for hubby when fixing bits in the garage. Like having an extra pair of hands.

Used it to solder some wiring connections. Very helpful.
