Men's Military Boonie Hat

Very close to the boonie hat I had in nam. Fits great and I really love the look.

If you appreciate the utility of a boonie hat and like how they look (or don't care either way), you'll be very satisfied with this hat. Durable, fits well, and does a good job of reducing sun exposure to your face, shoulders, and neck. Has faded a bit over time, but that's to be expected given how frequently I wear it in the water - it still gets the job done! Definitely recommended.And remember - always wear sunscreen!

I wear these for hot weather. You can toss them into the washing machine when they get funky. I have had similar hats since 1968.

Just received today. Fit is great. I guess I have a small head. Ordered size 7-1/4 and it's a loose fit. But according to the caution label in the hat, "Initial loose fit required for continued comfort". So it's perfect. Olive color is just what I wanted, brim is rigid to my taste, is lightweight and comfortable to wear, and looks good. What more could anybody want? Not sure what to put in the built-in map pocket as I usually navigate by GPS. Right now I just tuck the chin strap into it. Can't wait to go hiking with it.

Nice hat. Has the right shape however being called tru spec OF green thsts what i expecte . It is so dark of a green it is almost black. Ive bleached it 2 times and its finally starting to look right. Probably need to do it one more time. I feel it should have come that way.

I LOVE this hat! It is very well constructed, it will last you a long time! It was a great price too! I love the little pocket flap on the inside, very handy. Shipping was a little slow, not Prime eligible, but still, I would buy again!

Great hat! My hubby loves it, well made and seems very durable, I would definitely buy this again, it fits as expected, same size as a similar one purchased years ago.

I purchased this boonie along with an R&B boonie and an authentic Marine Corps-issued boonie (from another site). I was surprised to find the R&B hat is by far the best constructed and uses the best materials. You can see the difference, and you can feel it.Where the Tru Spec boonie has an advantage for me, though, is with the map pocket. A lot of boonie makers do this strange thing: they use a single layer of fabric for the crown of the hat, which means light can penetrate the hat at the exact point where light exposure is greatest. For a bald guy with Irish skin, having the sun shine through the crown of your hat defeats the purpose. It makes a hat worthless unless I modify it, which introduces other issues.The Tru Spec boonie has less of an issue there, because they have a "map pocket" that gives an extra layer of fabric and therefore full protection to 70% of the scalp. At 70% it's not perfect, but it's better than R&B and most other boonies in this regard.If you've got a full head of hair, I would seriously consider buying R&B. It really is a sturdier, higher-quality hat. However, if you're bald like me, you might want to go with Tru Spec.For the record, I gave R&B a four-star review as well. They're both good hats with their own strengths and weaknesses. I wish someone would figure it out and combine them, but you can't always get what you want.
