Amish Christmas Cookbook: Authentic Favorites from Three Generations of Amish Cooks

Beautiful!
This is a wonderful cookbook. I probably have over 100 cookbooks and this is my favorite. I only need this one for the entire Thanksgiving and Christmas season. First of all, my daughter got it for me and it was supposed to be a Christmas present. When the box came I couldnt wait for Christmas! The book is so real. My daughter's best friend is Amish and lives in Lancaster, PA. My daughter lives in Cape May. These two are so much the same and therefore, I know these recipes are authentic and heartfelt! Different times I have heard her mention what the Amish cook and will celebrate with. Just like us, but better!! I read this book every night and love it. It is wonderful. Thank you, Linda! Merry Christmas!

Pictures don’t match the recipes!
There are some great recipes and some great pictures in this cookbook. Unfortunately they don’t match up!!! There is the same picture for 3 or 4 recipes multiple times and I can’t find the recipes to match some of the pictures! At least 2/3 of the cookbook is like this! I don’t know if I received a bad book or this is like the one everyone is getting! I look for pictures and then look for the recipe but I can’t do this with this book!New comment...I realized that I do have a defective book! There are multiple pages of the same recipe and there are pages missing from this book. I will return this book and try again. Hopefully this is just a one time problem and not a batch of books that were collated wrong. Stay tuned...

Not Christmasy
I look forward to buying a few Christmas cookbooks each year but have found this one to be very disappointing. There are recipes in here that you'll find in other Amish cookbooks, but not many of them feel very Christmasy. Fried chicken, corn on the cob, bbq this-and-that, and mayo-laced salads and coleslaws? To me that's summer fare--church supper fare at a stretch--but not at all something I'd consider for my Christmas table. There is a heavy reliance on condensed soups in this book, too, which I find unappealing (because those kinds of dishes are always too salty). The dessert section saves this book and, aside from a few other recipes, it is the only thing in this book that feels seasonal. Overall, this book feels gimmicky, as if it is designed as a money grab by writing "Christmas" on the cover, and adding a holly design at the start of each recipe. If I'm wrong, and these are the recipes most often found on Amish tables at Christmastime, I would have expected to see that written about in introductions to the recipes or chapters. The authors didn't write much about Christmas at all in the book, aside from a very short introduction, and a couple nice family stories in the dessert section. Overall, this book is very disappointing as a Christmas cookbook.

Very disappointing
nothing special about the recipes to make them holiday worthy. A number of them used Jello , packaged pudding and KoolWhip. Wasn't worth buying
