Works really well, love the display. I also love having a car charger adapter, when shooting out in the field. I have noticed though, and I may be misunderstanding this, but when my camera shows a power remaining amount of XX%, the charger usually shows about 25-30% higher. It charges fast though.

I say "essential" because the Sony A7 series (first model and the II) will need more than one battery to get through a typical day's shooting. With the supplied Sony "in-camera" charging system you have to stop shooting while the battery is recharged -- far better to have a separate charger that can be charging extra batteries while you're using the camera. With this charger, I always have two extra batteries on hand. Too early to tell how good the batteries are, but the charger works great and the display gives a good indication of progress. Very pleased with mine...

The device comes with an ac cord and a dc cord for the car. It gives an illuminated display of the battery charge for each battery. It also has a USB port if you need to power anything else.On a few occasions, I have plugged it in and it didn't work. Disconnecting and reconnecting the power seems to do something to get it to turn on.The battery bays are very shallow. It takes a small amount of practice to get used to placing the batteries properly. I say place, rather than insert, because mostly the battery just sits in the charging bay. The charger is very light, so light that it moves about too easily. A little more weight would have been nice. Even with two batteries in, it is still too light. The device is also large. It appears to be mostly empty on the inside, so could have been smaller.Overall, it has worked well and charges the batteries without issue.20171216 update: I've been using this charger a while now. I'm increasing the stars from 3 to 4. I took it on two road trips, and the DC power worked without issue. Also, the battery connector trays are removable, which lets me charge more than one type of battery. Not sure what this new standard is, but it seems to be consistent for 4V and 8V batteries. (This unit is 8 volts - don't mix)I now have so many batteries that I have ordered a second one of these. Not sure who OEMs this, but Neewer also sells the same unit.

Works great

I got this when I bought my Sony A-6300 camera. I love the fact that it comes with a 12VDC adapter so I can charge my 2 extra batteries in the car during my outtings for photo and filming sessions. It's a big bonus that it has a USB port on the side so I can charge my phone at the same time. For a vehicle with only one cigarette adapter, the USB port makes it. The charger is fast and the LCD screen is a nice plus.

This battery charger works great and charges my batteries very quickly. The charge is built very well and the LED display lets me know when the batteries have been fully charged. I highly recommend this brand !

This unit puts a stronger charge on my Sony camera batteries than my old single battery charger did. As others have noted, the displays are next to useless, so 1 star off for that. But the unit does charge well, handles 2 batteries at a time, and takes up only 1 receptacle in the wall outlet, so recommended for overall performance and convenience.
