Christy Lane's Complete Guide to Party Dances

This video is an outstanding & must have resource for PE teachers. If you have this plus Christy's Party Dance music you have everything you need to get successfully started with a dance unit. The video walks you through all the most popular party dances out there and shows suggestions for several levels. I've used this both as a resource to teach myself and have also shown clips to students. Christy's enthusiasm and teaching tips are an extra bonus. So if you've been reluctant to jump into dancing with your students this is a great place to start. I've utilized almost every dance on here at some point in my career. There is information that is useful for all grade levels.

This is a terrific video and CD for kids. I have used this as an ice breaker at school functions to get youth interested in dance. Read the product description, it is party dances much like what you find at a wedding or social event. these dances are meant to be easy and for people to dance them together. I would highly recommend this for PE teachers as well as DJ's who want to get the groups energy going.

This video is worth, at most, $5.99, and NOT $30.00. Seriously, it's a poorly filmed, poorly edited copy of this woman teaching a class of children and elderly in 1989. She does not even dance to the standard songs that the dances go with! I wish I could return this disc.

I thought the instructor (Christy Lane) was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, but I thought the dance instruction would include going through the dance with the associated music. Instead, the instructor goes through the dance moves slowly, then she goes through them at regular speed, then she does a (very) short run through to music. Granted, some steps (eg. Electric Slide) are not complicated, but I guess I was expecting more time to be spent on each separate dance.

This is a wonderful dvd. Christy breaks down the dances in a way that anyone can understand. I am an elementary P.E. teacher and in order to use the dances in my classroom, I have to learn the dances, buy the cd that has all the music and teach the dance myself. Christy only does a 30 second blurb of each song and dance. Therefore this video is not a workout without the cd and your own practice.

A cool way to exercise and recall faves from 20 years ago!

I am a ballroom dance instructor and was shocked when a student wanted me to show him the electric slide. Christy Lane's video was easy for me to learn the line dance and easily instruct my student. My student was happy. I was happy for the added service to my student. I highly recommend this video for anyone who wants to do a dance ice breaker for a party or wedding. A great way to get people on the floor.

Christy Lane gives step by step instructions and makes it easy to learn the moves. Whether we're learning the Chicken Dance, Hand Jive, or The Swing, the kids are loving it!
