No it does not have a battery and I like this product

Is it the original mach3?

There were many different color handles available over the years and this handle is in the original style but the blade is different. The old blade, or the blade I am used to all of these years, had a different rubber strip. Gillette refers to this rubber strip as the "comfort strip". The rubber strip at the bottom has changed recently and it does feel different when I shave. You can find images of the old type blade on Amazon. The old blade had metal strips that wrapped around the entire blade head on each side from top to bottom. The rubber strip on the old style blade doesn't reach to the edge like this new blade. Now the rubber strip is longer and the metal strips shorter. Having used the old style for so long, I'm still getting used to this new one. After only a few shaves, it has less feedback, sort of floats over the skin more. I'm not sure if I like it yet.
