Because these come with the plug-in adapter, which provides more power to the fans so they run faster than if you only run them off a USB port. Plug into the wall, they run at 65cfm each. Plug into the USB, they run at 52cfm each. They will also make more noise running off the wall wart.

Q: Do they sell a 12vdc version of this?

ive tested these with a 3rd party 12v 2a inverter. at first i was concerned whether the control module could handle the power but thus far its holding stable at full power over usb in an always on configuration. that being said i am not confident the wiring could handle the increased power load over an extended period.

I believe they are the same. It’s just sold seperate also incase the fan setup you buy doesn’t come with one. This one does come with it.

Yes. the screws can be removed and you probably can use the holes for wood screws if you can find screws thin and long enough. I attached the fans to a cowling fashioned from Sheetmetal. they work great.
