Techo Touchless Toilet Flush Kit, Adjustable Sensor, 1256315 Adapt k1954, Automatic Toilet Flusher - Easy to Install

I purchased this for a guest room toilet to remove the need for anyone to touch it to flush. Im a bit OCD with hygiene and with keeping the nice ToTo chrome toilet handle spotless and free of fingerprints. The product arrived quickly and packaged nicely to ensure safe transport. Installation was simple and made even easier by the included QR code that directs you to watch a short youtube install video. I slowed the video down to the slowest speed in order to keep up. Installation took me less than 5 minutes, no exaggeration. As others have mentioned it would be more ideal if the flush length could be extended to 7+ second, ideally up to a maximum of 10 seconds would be ideal. This means that when this device flushes, it can hold the flush valve open for a maximum of 7 seconds. There is a very small phillips screw that sets the length of time to keep the valve open. On my unit, the adjustment screw was covered in glue, a flick with a metal nail file was all that was needed to remove the glue but it should not have been covered. I had to locate a small enough phillips (ideally an electronics repair kit or eyeglass repair kit) that would fit in the tiny adjustment screw. It would be courteous for the manufacturer to have provided one but some people may not need to adjust the flush length at all. Default flush hold is 4-5 seconds long. I increased my unit to the maximum of 7 seconds which is sufficient to flush the toilet properly but ideally 9 seconds would have been better. From the description I was hoping that this unit could flush the toilet automatically when a guest moved away from the toilet or within some time set intervals, just to insure that the toilet is flushed on its own, with or without any usage. This unit does not do that. This unit solely provides a non-touch flush by motion sensor, you must wave your hand over the top of the toilet lid to activate the flush. The product comes with a chrome hand-wave sticker that you can place on top of your toilet to inform guests that they can just wave their hand over the toilet to flush it. The pickup sensitivity on the motion sensor has an adjustment screw, identical to the adjustment screw for the flush length, and is located right next to the flush length adjustment. I did not need to adjust the flush motion sensitivity. I have been using the unit for several months now and it has worked 100% of the time, still operating on the included 4 batteries. The unit makes no noise when activating a flush, if it does make a noise it is inaudible due to the flushing of the toilet. I would definitely recommend this to others.

Installed our Kohler Touchless toilet bowls in 2015. Some are used more than others. On any toilets that have daily usage - a handful of flushes per day, batteries need replacing at least every thirty days, and all 'ghost-flush', which is extremely annoying, costly, and potentially dangerous. Needless to say, whenever we vacation or are away from home for more than a day, we remove all battery packs, just in case. When the batteries are super-low, it'll keep flushing, die when in the opened position, and the toilet will continuously run. We always meant to call Kohler, but never bother. I assumed replacing the motor/unit wouldn't help, as we have this problem on ALL of our Kohler Touchless toilets. A few weeks ago, one of the motors burnt out, replacing the batteries didn't help. I didn't bother to call Kohler because I figured I'd receive a replacement quicker when buying outright. With that, I came across Techo Touchless Toilet Flush Kit on Amazon. I initially thought it was a bit expensive, but reviews were great, so I figured it was worth it. Well, it definitely was! Amazing motor replacement, worth every penny. The battery pack is separated from the motor, which is cool. I don't love that I need a screwdriver to replace the batteries, but if it's only every six months, no big deal. You can adjust the motion sensitivity and flush speed. It literally takes sixty seconds to install. Out-of-the-box it would flush over-and-over once the lid was back on the tank. I lowered the motion sensitivity to the lowest, which I think is '0', and that was it, perfect! For reference, I did add the included tank cover spacers/padding. I think the speed is set to the highest by default, which I left alone. Watch it flush with the lid off, you'll notice the difference instantly when compared to the Kohler unit. You'll hear the difference too with the motor. I'm now going to replace the motors in all of our toilets. They will pay for themselves with the savings on batteries alone, not to mention the water that's going down-the-drain.

Device is easy to install. Sensor is powerful. Good!

***UPDATED*** At just over six months I had to install fresh batteries. The unit didn’t stop working, completely but the sensitivity was off and it didn’t flush with every swipe. Simple process-up and running again in a few minutes. So far so good.** I finally replaced the original touchless flush system that came with my Kohler toilet. What a frustrating, poorly designed mess that was. Even with two (2) rounds of updates from Kohler and a total replacement unit - nothing but disappointment. I can't say enough good things about Kohler support - they tried everything - and at no charge - but nothing worked. Ghost flushes in the middle of the night, batteries that drained after 2 weeks - sometimes less - it was bad. I would have added a lever assembly and surrendered the dream of touchless - but my tank did not have an opening for a handle - it was designed to be touchless so I had to find a solution or change out the entire tank. Enter TECHO. After 60-Days in my Kohler toilet - the TECHO has worked flawlessly. No ghost flushes (not a single one) and after 60-days (I know it's still early in the love affair) the batteries are still going strong. The unit has an electronically adjustable sensitivity setting unlike the Kohler that you adjust by physically raising or lowering the unit inside the tank away from the lid. The TECHO battery compartment is incredibly well sealed with a gasket and a screw to keep it snug. Installation is a breeze. If you are replacing a Kohler unit you'll have absolutely no issues. AND - you will appreciate the engineering changes that make this unit a better tool and at a lower cost than the KOHLER. Sensitivity remains CONSTANT - something the Kohler did not. At 5 inches above the tank lid it activates - every time. As the batteries died on the KOHLER unit I often had to tap the top of the lid to get it to trigger. Not very touchless. This TECHO unit works the way the KOHLER should have. If it keeps working like this after a year (or fails miserably) , I'll update this review. A great purchase in my opinion.

5/31/2019: One week after my previous update, I tried yet again to contact the company at the email address they gave in their February comment, below. Three weeks later, they have not responded (again). Despite giving the appearance that they care about customer service with their comments to all of the negative reviews, they don't care. At all. It is apparently just a ruse. Or they could just be waiting to respond until after my warranty period is over in 2 months. Don't expect customer support from this company. 4/30/2019: I emailed the tech support team at the address that was given in the comment (below) from Techo within one day of their comment. That was 2 and a half months ago and they never responded to my email. So, it is apparent that they only make "defensive" comments on Amazon to make it look like they "care" but they apparently do not stand behind their product at all. Do not waste your money. If I could, I would give these ZERO stars. I bought a competitor's product which is working better than the Techo (Jones Stephens CleanWave Sensor). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHEN this thing works, it is great. I love waving my hand and not touching the flush handle. However, this device is plagued with problems. Some can be overcome with maintenance. But both of mine completely died after barely 7 months. Here are the problems: 1) Sensitivity, even when dialed all of the way up is still too weak to work well though heavy ceramic lids. You still have to almost touch the lid to get it to work which mostly defeats the germ-free purpose. 2) Water accumulates on top of the sensor because of condensation inside the closed tank. This further reduces the limited range sensitivity. This can be temporarily remedied by lifting the lid and wiping water off of the top of the sensor unit every week or so. 3) Even with the top of the battery holder screwed all of the way down to compress the O-ring, there was still some leakage of condensation inside which caused battery compartment corrosion (this is NOT why the unit failed. The sensors are completely dead. Probably because of some limited condensation inside of the actuator unit). 4) Batteries don't last (for me anyway) longer than about 3 months on either unit. 5) The price is now $30. more (each) than it was when I bought 2 of them. I really wanted these to work, and they did to some degree with the nagging problems I listed. But a failure rate of two units in two separate bathrooms with different toilets in 7 months is not acceptable. I will keep looking for other solutions. Meanwhile, I will be flushing the old fashioned, germy way.

About a year ago I purchased and installed a similar product from Kohler KOHLER K-1954-0 Touchless Toilet Flush Kit . Decided a few weeks ago to upgrade another toilet and give the Techo product a try. Here is my comparison of the two products: 1. Ease of installation. Pretty similar for both, although Kohler's instructions are much clearer. 2. Reliability. Have not had the Techo product long enough to know, but the Kohler product began to uncontrollably flush over and over again about 4 months after installation and had to be replaced. 3. Usability. The Techo product is more sensitive and will flush from a hand as much as 4 inches away. The Kohler product requires that your hand be within an inch. Kohler suggests you can cure this by raising the unit inside the tank so that it is closer to the top, but when I tried that the tank top rested on top of the unit. Furthermore, although I didn't need to use it, the Techo product has a sensitivity adjustment built in to it. 4. Changing batteries. Easier in the Kohler unit. The Techo unit requires that you unplug the battery compartment from the main unit, remove it from the tank, and then use a screwdriver to open the compartment. The Kohler compartment simply unlatches in situ. 5. Installation options. Both units can be installed either in conjunction with the existing flush handle (permitting either method to be used to flush the toilet) or as a complete replacement, leaving touchless as the only option. However, the Kohler instructions are only for complete replacement whereas the Techo instructions are only for dual operation. It's not that difficult in either case to figure out how to install using the other option. But, the Kohler kit includes a cosmetic plastic plug that you put in the hole after removing the handle. The Techo unit does not, and you'll need to find one or improvise. 6. Product support. So far have not needed any for the Techo product, but the Kohler product stopped functioning after about 4 months. A single conversation with Kohler customer support yielded the needed replacement parts. Subsequently they sent me another part, also free of charge, even though I had messed it up. So Kohler gets an A+ for support. Bottom line: let's see how the Techo product functions over time. If there are no problems, then I would definitely recommend it over the Kohler product. The higher sensitivity combined with the ability to adjust the sensitivity is a major plus. One further recommendation: After installing either product get into the habit to turn off the water main, or at least the water supply valve to the toilet whenever you plan to be away for more than a day or two. Had the Kohler failure occurred while I was away, it would have flushed thousands of gallons "down the toilet".

UPDATED REVIEW: This unit still has the same batteries it came with and has Never Failed to work. I love it! 2011, November, my wife and I finished a total refurbishing of our home. This renovation included a Kohler Hands-free toilet flush assembly. From Day One, that unit phantom-flushed randomly day after day...so much so that my water bill increased. Fast forward to 2022 after 6 (SIX) replacement units - all free and with excellent customer service i might add - and not one unit ever performed to anything near expected. Kohler even sent me a new-updated-design unit which "NEVER" worked and they sent me another such new-design unit that also did not work. Was it me... could I not install a simply auto-flush device - absolutely not. I'm not overstating this situation so please read on. To be clear, I learned the Kohler unit (the old design) would work better (sort of) when/if there were brand new batteries installed but it literally ate batteries. Sooo, I bought a Panasonic charger and 12 rechargeable batteries so enable me to replace the batteries every 2.5 weeks (two-point-five) due to unknown fast battery drain. Finally, two months ago (10-01-2022) the unit quit working altogether. I even installed an older unit (I kept all) but nothing worked. Fast forward and I ran across this Techo Touchless Flush Kit and decided to try it. Quite honestly, I knew Amazon would replace the unit if it didn't work so prepared myself for yet another round of Touchless Flush disappointments. To my super delight, this unit worked first time. In fact it worked too well so I had to adjust its sensitivity (not an option with Kohler) 1/4 turn lower to tune it to my toilet. I can't begin to tell you how very happy - delighted - relieved - excited I am to have purchased this unit and my wife is even happier as that small guest bathroom is her private area. I cannot understand why Kohler (huge company with a great reputation) was never able to supply me with a unit that worked. It's certainly possible they may have one now but I simply didn't have the courage to make that call (again) and risk another round of failures. Hat's off to "TECHO" for designing a unit that not only works but has two adjustment screws built in easily accessible to fine-tune its operation. I highly recommend this product!

I purchased this unit in the Fall of 2022 after the original Kohler unit failed. It is nearly a direct replacement for Kohler's much more expensive K-1954 touchless toilet flush kit, and with minor modifications to the battery holder, it fits well. It works exactly like to former Kohler unit, and has not exhibited any phantom flushes. It has has worked quite well, but now after about 18 months, it's beginning to use up batteries much faster. I use rechargeable batteries, and am now needing to charge them weekly with no change in frequency of flushing. If you purchase this unit, I recommend purchasing rechargeable batteries to go along with it. The two purchases combined are still less than half the price of the original Kohler product. Update 10/25/24: I’ve owned this now for nearly 2 years and it has worked perfectly, but noticed that battery life was shortening. Last week it stopped working completely. I was ready to buy another one, but then realized that the contacts inside of the battery case had developed a film that needed to be cleaned off. Once cleaned, the device began working perfectly again. Really happy with it, and I recommend cleaning the battery contacts every so often.

Nice compact and clever device, fully recommend for elderly and anyone that may find flushing a toilet not so easy, as this makes it no effort. Easy to install, Easy to adjust to suit different install applications.

My wife and I went for a vacation in Hong Kong. For the first time in all our travels, we discovered the toilet in our hotel room had touchless automatic flushing. After doing your business, you just waved your hand above a sensor on the toilet tank and the toilet flushed automatically. When we got back home, my wife was determined to find this toilet upgrade, which is how I came across this product on Amazon. The device is not a complicated contraption. It is basically a motor controlled by electronics to turn half a circle to lift up the flap in the toilet tank, and then reverse itself after a set time to close the flap. The motor is activated by a microwave sensor built in the device. The device seems to be well made. The motor and electronics are enclosed in a plastic box with rubber gasket to keep it water-resistant. It is powered by 4 AA batteries. The batteries are installed in a separate housing that is also sealed with gasket. The two units are connected by a water-resistant coupler. The manufacturer claimed that the battery will last at least 6 months in an average household. Installation is relatively simple. The combination unit is hung on the wall of the water tank with a clamp. A little fiddling is required to adjust the length of the chain connecting the motor to the flap so it is just of the right length to allow the motor to fully open the flap. The sensitivity of the microwave sensor and the duration leaving the flap opened is adjustable. I made the mistake initially of adjusting the sensitivity before putting the water tank cover on; boy, the lid reduced the sensitivity tremendously! After re-adjusting the sensitivity, the unit then worked fine. Of note is I installed the unit in parallel to the mechanical flush handle. That means the toilet can still be flushed manually if the unit fails. The unit works like a charm since its installation. We now feel that touching the handle to flush the toilet after doing our business (before washing the hands which most of us do) is gross! End note: after installing this unit, we wanted to install the same in all toilets around the house; that's when I went shopping knowing what to look for. I was able to find identical units with a different brand name from a large budget department chain store as well as from a large electronic chain store for exactly half the price. The product, however, is only available for online shopping.

I purchased this because my Kohler touchless flush failed after using it for five years. I ran into this brand and decided to give it a try. It is easy to install. I like it because the range of the microwave sensor is adjustable. When I first installed it, it was too sensitive. I unintentionally triggered the flush. After adjusting the dial, it works perfectly well. The kit does not include a plug for the handle lever. So, first time user, you will have to buy your own. My old Kohler kit supplied the plug.
