Savox SC-0254mg High Torque Standard Size Digital Servo

I found out what happens to a brushless buggy on 3 cell at full speed when it hits a car and instantly stops. The servo was the least of my worries. When I rebuilt it I used an old HItec plastic servo I had laying around, non digital, plastic gears, it did okay a few weeks but started slipping teeth when somersaulting. I also have a TC4 that had the rebuilt Associated servo from the buggy in it, and it started flaking out even after rebuilding it so I got a Traxxas waterproof servo, the fast one. So I can now compare these two similarly priced servos to each other. The savox is fast. Really fast. It also has very fine control and tons of torque even on small movement. This also means excellent centering torque. Try to push on a front tire and it's like pushing against a brick wall, it just holds it still resisting your movement. I use the Savox with a digital gyro for stabilized steering and it works great with this digital servo and it's speed. Moving the rear end by hand, the front wheels don't move, it's like they're glued to the ground. Turning the wheel on my radio and watching the servo arm it moves one for one. It's hard to describe but it's like the servo is on the other end of an invisible stick between the radio wheel and the servo. It moved 1:1 with steering input, even minute movements. Anyway, in practice my buggy steers very well, needed minimal sub trim to drive straight, and it doesn't float around center anymore, it's on rails and goes straight even without the gyro stability. With gyro on, I can drive on a dusty asphalt road with loose gravel on it and the car drives like a 4x4 instead of a rear wheel drive buggy. Contrast that with the Traxxas which was much better in my TC4 than the associated mg servo, but it's not nearly as fast and good at holding centerline as the Savox. For the $35 range this is probably the best steering servo you can find. The torque numbers mean it will handle SC trucks as easily as on road or buggy. It could probably even handle 1/8 scale if it wasn't pushed too hard. One note is that while it was a drop in 25t spline replacement, the savox is a little on the large side. It was a tight fit in my RC10 4.2.

I bought this to replace the broken swervo on my RedCat Blackout. This new servo works awesome and was totally plug and play. Fit right into the the stock location, plugged in, and worked without issue. My steering issues have been resolved. I combo'd this with new Servo Horn and it's night and day. Great product!

Good value servo that so far has proven strong and reliable. They are a bit noisier than Hitec but not a deal breaker.

Great servo, as expected from Savox. Turns my huge HPI truggy flux wheels (17mm hex) no problem. Turing rate is a bit sluggish but for a huge RC like that, it's a good thing.
