Q: We want to screw on a plate for lost seed on bottom . Does this feeder have a stew for that?

It is made completely of plastic and I'm not sure a screw would 'not' break it. I let some seed fall to the ground for the Doves since they are ground feeders. Plus, it also keeps the squirrels from hanging on the feeders.

Q: Can you use sunflower seeds?

Yes! you can use sunflower seeds. I use is a mixture with at least 50% sunflower seeds.

Q: Do birds like how long the perch is; is it a good-size perch?

I did not have a problem with it, other then the top with squirrels trying to get the top off, you do have to secure the top. We tried using the key ring and found for us it did not work son uses a piece of wire. To answer your questions the birds seem to like it and we had to fill every day.
