The evil is back. The Exorcist novelist and Academy Award-winning screenwriter William Peter Blatty triumphs again with this spellbinding sequel starring George C. Scott.Year: 1990"'The Exorcist III' is a much better film than either of its predecessors."-- Vincent Canby, New York Times"William Peter Blatty is David Lynch's good twin. He is eccentric, original, funny and daring, but he also has a sense of taste, pace and restraint. Which is by way of saying this is one of the shrewdest, wittiest, most intense and most satisfying horror movies ever made."-- Ralph Novak, People Magazine Review: Sooooo goooood - Favorite movie! Review: Masterpiece. - This film is phenomenal. Fantastic acting, plot, and scenes that makes your skin crawl. This is Not a perfect movie, however, in that some scenes were long and were used to cut down budget with long continuous scenes and minimal acting, which is an issue; However, it does Not diminish the film in Any way other than the film could have had long meaningless shots cut to be replaced with More Meaningful content. Some scenes worked and built suspense, but others didn't compliment the progression. The characterization, dialogue, and portrayal of these demons, And How they Work which was left ambiguous in the 1st Exorcist and the 2nd exorcist is terrible. How the demons can get around, what they can do, and their abilities In Relationship with God and Religion was portrayed with Excellence in this film. All this said, this film is Not for everyone. This is a Serious, Blunt, Disturbing film that weaker minds wouldn't like to have the memories of. It is frank, and overly descriptive, But the result is Nothing Less than a Masterpiece of cinema and the acting is Superb. Worth Every Cent of my purchase and I am glad I found a video review of this movie so I could reconnect rather than never seeing this film after the Exorcist 2, which Exorcist 2 is, again, a terrible film. I'd recommend Skipping 2 and only seeing 1 and 3 in order.

Love this movie
My favourite of the Exorcist series. I don’t like the rest of the series much, but this one stands out from the rest. At least to me :) This is one of the creepiest, most unnerving horror films I’ve ever seen!

(Skip the Exorcist 2. It's a dud.) This strange little gem was a total surprise. It takes place fifteen years after The Exorcist ended. The evil has not finished what it began. What we have here is good acting, script, dialogue, imagery, sound design, cinematography... not to mention its creepiness factor; the hair on my neck stands up. And there's comedy sprinkled here and there, particularly the witty dialogue between the cop and the priest. Their friendship/rapport is done really well and believably. And there's that scene in the hospital that always, always makes you jump. Dead silence, no background music to distract you. Until you let your guard down. Very Hitchockian, giving you a big scare that really isn't scary after all, and then moments later, the big genuine fright just as you're starting to relax and you don't expect it. Good stuff. Oh, and if you blink you'll miss the king of chitchat, Larry King, at the restaurant. It's a one second shot of him. There are a few familiar faces around this film. There are odd characters in this film, like the nurse with the heavy lipstick, and the chainsmoking doctor who rehearses his conversations. It feels like a David Lynch film sometimes. There are really bizarre characters here. I like that. I like this movie. It's different, not what I expected.

Collector's Edition Specifications
This is my favorite horror film of all-time. Has the scariest scene in a film I have ever seen. Absolutely awesome film. If you've never seen it before, you've missed out so far. Now is your chance to see it for yourself, and the newest release includes tons of extras. From the manufacture's website, here are the specs of the collector's edition release: Synopsis For more than fifteen years Police Lieutenant Kinderman (George C. Scott) has been haunted by the death of his friend Father Damien Karras. Now, on the 15th anniversary of the exorcism that claimed the priest’s life, Kinderman’s world is once again shattered when a boy is found decapitated and savagely crucified. It’s just the beginning of a nightmare series of bizarre religious murders. The brutal murders bear the hallmarks of the infamous Gemini Killer…who died in the electric chair fifteen years earlier. But when a psychopath claiming to be the Gemini Killer reveals intimate, gruesome details that only the true killer could possibly know, Kinderman is confronted with a horrifying truth that he cannot explain…and that will shake him to the core. The Exorcist III is author/filmmaker William Peter Blatty’s personal vision of what followed after The Exorcist. Like the original, The Exorcist III combines elements of a detective story, a theological puzzle, and an unforgettable study in terror. I truly enjoy this movie. George C. Scott is an absolute powerhouse, truly one of America's finest actors. He is complemented by an incredible supporting cast, and a director who knew exactly what it was he wanted to do and how he was going to do it. William Blatty made one of the finest supernatural whodunit films as a sequel to The Exorcist, based off his own novel "Legion" (which itself is well worth a read or three). This movie is at turns hilarious, touching, intensely sad and absolutely terrifying. Brad Dourif gives a lunatic performance that really only he could pull off. There's also a nifty extended cut that uses footage from the dailies in varying qualities. It can be pretty jarring, but it fleshes out the film a bit. Understandable if it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I thought it was cool.

If you've seen the film you will know why I put two L's in wonderfull...... I have owned The Exorcist III on many formats, from VHS to DVD, then the Scream! Factory Blu-ray, the French ESC Blu-ray and now the Arrow Video Blu-ray. Obviously the VHS and DVD versions were inferior in terms of picture quality and audio so then the Blu-ray versions.... The French ESC version had a nice box, both cuts of the film and some exclusive extras. The extras were in French so not much good to me! The Scream! Factory version had some fantastic extras, both cuts and a slightly better picture but was Region A locked and when my multi-region player died I was lost! Thank Legion for Arrow Video! All the extras from Shout!, both cuts of the film AND a couple of exclusive extras! Perfect! Would have liked a Steelbook but maybe later! Fingers and oars crossed 😉 The film is very special to me because it's one of the only films that can still scare me after all these years and thousands of horror films later! The mix of religion and innocence being totally destroyed and the amazing build up of tension throughout really makes for a terrifying film. Even in the lesser theatrical cut. The real gem here is always going to be the Legion cut because of how drastically different it is from the theatrical cut. I will not spoil it but the Legion cut is the best version of The Exorcist III and it is very, very different. For full disclosure, as they say, the Legion cut is made up of the best available elements so the quality and aspect ratio do change in some new scenes but for purists, it's essential. The Arrow Video release has 2 discs and contains many extras.... Disc 1; The Theatrical Cut. A new 2K restoration of The Exorcist III in 1080p. New Audio Commentary . Audio interview with director William Peter Blatty. A 5 part documentary. Vintage interviews with cast and crew. More interviews. Deleted scenes, outtakes and bloopers. Image galleries. Trailers and TV spots. Disc 2; The "Legion" Director's Cut. Presented in 1080p. New Audio Commentary with Mark Kermode and Kim Newman (worth the purchase alone!) Deleted prologue with commentary from Mark Kermode and Kim Newman. It may not look like much written down like this but for a fan it's a great package. Both cuts are presented in 2.0 or 5.1 audio in 1.85:1 aspect ratio and English subtitles. This release is Region B LOCKED.
