FP-30X Initial Review - Just out of the Box
Roland FP-30X fit the requirements of light-weight (gigs), superb action and excellent sounds. It arrived today and I moved the beloved Yamaha S80 out of the way and installed the FP-30X. I was also able to remove (from the interior of the house) my Roland keyboard amplifier (and the usual spaghetti of wires and cords) with the very good (truly) FP-30X built-in speakers. I'm71. Played in rock, horn, blues bands for over 55 years and currently getting a solo gig plan together. Just spent the last 2 hours with the FP-30X and I'm very happy with this purchase. I installed the Roland app on my phone, connected via Bluetooth and super happy with the capabilities of the Roland Piano App. Flawless connectivity, excellent sounds. Happy happy.

Excellent, moderately priced keyboard
Sounds great! Weighted keys and quality build make this Roland feel like a much more expensive keyboard. Love it!

Great Piano
Iโm an amateur/intermediate pianist and I was using a full weighted Celviano digital piano for years that I loved for decades. But I lost it in a house fire. I asked ChatGpt for digital piano recommendations for a good sound with weighted keys that was easily portable and it recommended this Roland model. I couldnโt be happier. That sound is exquisite and the feel is wonderful. Couldnโt be happier.

Love this keyboard!
Compared it to my Kawai acoustic piano, the key bed on this one is heavier, but is still enjoyable to play. The keys do feel very close to those on my Kawai. Sounds are really good and do sound much better through headphones that through the on-board speakers. The speakers are bottom facing and do not sound great if you're playing over anything but a reflective floor (hardwood, tile, etc.) But the keyboard does have jacks on the back for studio monitor speakers. I love playing it with the headphones on because it doesn't bother anyone else who may happen to be home. That said the key bed does make some noise and may be a problem late a night when others are sleeping. Just something to be aware of. The concert piano sound is where this one shines. The other sounds are really good for the most part. Only thing I wished was that Roland had a key map available for some of the other sounds like for the drums or sound effects. I also like the fact that you can use this keyboard as a controller for a DAW. I'm an intermediate player just getting into using one and not having to buy another keyboard controller right away is a plus.

A high quality budget digital piano with a premium feel and some drawbacks.
3 year review This, being my first digital piano (coming from much cheaper keyboards), I remember my first impressions very clearly. It felt like a whole new instrument. The expression from the action and sensitivity was very inspiring and refined. The piano sound was above average, as well as the other on-board sounds. The bass of the lower notes is lovely. The unit itself felt very well-built and sturdy. It's a heavy one, so you need to factor that too. It didn't take long for me to notice some cons, however: 1) The down-firing speakers take away too much from the sound; 2) The action, though very refined, does not rebound quickly enough to allow fast repeated notes/ trills that intermediate to advanced players do; 3) Such limited ease of use with the confined (cost-saving) user-interface should really should bring this model down to a lower price point, so in this aspect it is not that great of a deal; and 4) Roland should be ashamed to put their name on the DP-2 sustain pedal that came with it. It really should not exist when there are actual usable pedals (with polarity toggles) for $15 on Amazon. Are these deal-breakers? At first, it seemed so, but having lived with them, I'd say NO now. There simply were (and possibly still are) not any pianos that ticked all the boxes at this price point. You just need to know your use-case. I'd recommend this for people who want a high quality piano to learn on, play accompaniment, write songs or pieces, or whatever doesn't involve advanced fast-tempo piano playing.

Perfect for me
Learning to play the piano again and it works great for my use. It sits out of the way and doesnโt look bad. Sounds good to me and I like the different volume options. The keys feel like a good real weight to me.

Beginner, with the most awesome beginner's keyboard
JUST got it to learn how to play. I'm retired and it has always been a goal of mine to learn an instrument. The keyboard is AMAZING. the key feel is outstanding, the sound is absolutely perfect. I have yet to explore everything, but I do look forward to playing Bach using the harpsichord sound :)

Excellent product
Incredible piano for people who are serious long term pianists whose lives are on the go. I would even recommend it as an investment for new pianists wanting to improve.

You will love this!
Simply great specially for a newbie like me. I had ordered an FP10x but the seller kindly notified me that the FP30 was available for the same price. A great deal I couldn't refuse. The keyboard is amazing leaning towards a "less is more"...no digital screens, no complications- which is what I sincerely appreciate.

Weighted keys and great tone bank
Love my Roland keyboard. I'm a late bloomer but giving it my all to learn the keyboard. The Roland keyboard has great features and makes it a joy to use. I love the weighted keys and I did purchase a pedal that works very well with the sustain feature as well. Pianote is a great site for learning and makes it very easy to learn.
