Great for the elderly
Bought this for my grandma who has trouble seeing the numbers and she loves it, it makes it easy for her to see who she's calling and it's also loud enough she can hear the other person on the line

Has a mind-boggling design flaw!
Okay, so I got this phone for my Mom who is starting to have trouble with her eyes, as well as needing a hearing aid. This phone, as advertised, does indeed have huge numbers, and amplified volume so it was good for her. She is also not very tech savvy, so I wanted something simple, without whistles and bangs that she would never need, and would only confuse her. So for those reasons, I chose this phone, and I must say, that for the most part it was as I said, exactly as advertised. HOWEVER: there is one outrageous design flaw on this phone which I find mind-boggling, and stupid beyond words. Obviously this phone is meant for older people, or those with some disabilities, and therefore, needs to be as easy to operate as possible, without anything confusion in the mix. Okay... so WHY did they decide to put a MUTE BUTTON in the INSIDE of the receiver?! It is exactly in the middle where you hold the receiver, and with very little effort you will end up pressing it with your palm or fingers while talking on the phone, and suddenly the caller will not be able to hear you, and the poor victim of this phone will be shouting louder and louder while the caller keeps saying: "Hello? Hello? Are you still here?!?" Of course, since this mute button is "hidden" in the receiver handle, they would have no idea why they can no longer be heard. Talk about causing unnecessary stress! Even after you let them know when first unpacking the phone that there is a mute button in the receiver, and "to be careful" how you hold the phone (and why would you put a button there, so they have to "be careful how you hold the phone") I mean, you should not have that worry about "how you hold the receiver"!, Of course this is a warning they will quickly forget, and besides, holding the receiver by wrapping your hand around it is the normal way to hold a phone, yet these "design geniuses" decided that would also be the best place to put a mute button... right in the middle where you will be putting presser on it with your palm or fingers!. It makes no sense on a hundred different levels, including being extremely awkward, if for example you actually wanted to mute your voice, since you would have to put down the receiver, press the button, and then, what... put the receiver back up to your ear? And what if you were on "speaker phone", which is usually the main time you would use a mute button, now you have to take the receiver off the phone, and press the button... which defeats the whole reason for a speaker phone in the first place! There is plenty of room on the phone's face plate to put in this tiny mute button... where it is also easy to see, and access. So why hide it in the receiver? I would love to meet the person who designed this phone... I mean, for the safely of the world, I would at least like to know that they are not also allowed to operate a vehicle on the road, or are allowed to breed, or God forbid operate farm machinery. For this reason, I give this a one star. It takes an otherwise excellent simply designed phone, and turns it into a bad joke, like a whoopee cushion, or those jar of "nuts" that when opened, springs out a fake snake. There is no other reason whatsoever to hide the mute button in the receiver, except, perhaps, to film a a mean-spirited practical joke when your senior loved one suddenly finds the caller unable to hear them... a video you then put on YouTube. Unless they someday take away this mute button in the receiver, stay away from this phone... and find a phone that was designed by someone from this planet, who knows how to dress themselves, and can spell their name.

Not bad.
I went through many of the reviews before getting this phone. First off, the one delivered to me does not have the dreaded "mute" button built into the receiver, so they must have acknowledged all the bad reviews on that feature (rightfully so). There is no mute button at all. Second, the 911 button, you can program that to be ANY number, so accidentally calling 911 is not a worry. I had seen that another buyer noted it was programmable before I purchased mine. I just painted over the 911 button with a Sharpie, and programmed it for a family member. Programming the numbers is pretty easy, but note that when you actually push the buttons to enter the number, there is no button key tone sound. I thought that was a bit weird but not a problem. When using the phone like normal there IS key tone sounds each time you hit a button. The ringer is pretty loud on high, I personally didn't think the receiver was that loud on high, but my half deaf 93 year old grandmother seemed to have no issue with it on her first call. Also as noted by other buyers, the phone base is SUPER light weight, making it easy to be pulled off the table by the receiver. I paired my purchase with a longer receiver cord and a longer cord for the base so she wouldn't feel like she was on a short leash. Today is day one with the phone, so I'm hopeful it holds up well. My grandmother is partially blind with macular degeneration, she is having an easier time with seeing the numbers. I put a raised adhesive bump dot on the mem button to help her with the programmed numbers. So she just presses mem (which is a smaller button) and a corresponding (big) number she can see to speed dial someone. Paper instructions did come with the phone. Phone numbers are retained if the phone is unplugged, which is a great feature.https://www.amazon.com/Bump-Dots-Mixed-Sm-Med-Lg-Round-Orange-Red-80-pk/dp/B00G96AA5Y/ref=sr_1_2?crid=72QXN2LGL01I&keywords=dots+for+the+blind&qid=1574216810&sprefix=dots+for+%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-2

Not great, but OK
Needed a large button phone for our great aunt who has macular degeneration and is literally blind. This phone has the largest numbers that I could find. After unboxing the unit, the first thing I noticed was how light it was. It did not feel very durable. The handset has no "mouthpiece" like older style phones. Instead, there are just holes at the bottom of the handle where you talk into it. The handset felt very weird for our aunt who is used to older phone styles. The second thing I noticed was that the back of the unit did not have a recessed area to allow the phone jack on the wall plate to rest in. All wall mounted phones have a recessed area in the center where the phone jack is when you attach the phone to the plate. The back of the unit was completely flat. There wasn't even an channel to allow the phone cable to sit in. The wall plate had to be modified to allow the phone unit to securely attach to the plate. The ear piece volume has two settings. When it's set to the higher setting, voices sound tinny and there is occasional feedback. The lower setting worked for her, but if you need a higher volume, this is not a good unit. The ringer volume has two settings as well, and she preferred the higher setting. She said she had problems hearing the phone (located in the kitchen) from her bedroom at the lower setting. The cord is too short, had to buy a longer cord. The 911 button is nice and can be deactivated if you don't want to use it. Has two preset buttons. So after some work, the phone does what it needs to do for my wife's great-aunt, but it's not a great phone out of the box.

The 1 and 6 button stopped working properly.
We ordered this phone for our elderly parent, and she has sight issues. This was the perfect phone for six months. Now, the 1 and 6 keys stopped working properly. They intermittently work (once in a blue moon). This of course leaves our parent in danger, as we/she can not be sure if the numbers actually dialled, such as in calling 911. We are going to try to order another one, with hopes that it will last. For the price, we really hope so.

Mother-In-Law - 92 and Blind - Loves it!
This phone is excellent in meeting the requirements for my MIL. The buttons are big, the black/white contrast is good, the handset is what she's used to holding to her ear and mouth, it's comfortable to hold for lengthy conversations, the 10 memory two-button dialing works really well, and the single-button dialing is excellent for urgent calls. She probably would not be able to program numbers herself, but it's very easy for me to do for her.

Not as pictured
Just received (Dec 28/21). Not even out of the package I noticed right away it's not the same as the one pictured that led me to decide to order it. This one has much smaller numbers, and no "red 911" button. I guess I'll need to program that myself and paint it red. Plus, I'll need to get a friend to make large stickers to cover the existing numbers in order to have them larger. Not very happy so far for a $60 phone.

arrived dirty and broken
Not impressed. We wasted a lot of time before we figured out the "new" phone we bought was non-functional out of the box. Too late to return - into the garbage.
