Got this for my 3 year old's bed. She's potty trained, but still occasionally wets the bed. I chose this waterproof mattress pad based on the number of reviews and the high overall rating. But, based on my experience, this mattress pad did not keep the urine from leaking through onto the new mattress (which now has a urine stain/smell). Going to try another mattress pad that claims to be water-proof, hopefully one of these works.

I spent many hours reviewing water proof pads for our king size bed. We have an expensive mattress and I wanted to ensure we were purchasing the correct product. I read all of the 1 and 2 star reviews for a variety of pads hoping to find the perfect pad, and guess what, the perfect pad does not exist. I decided to purchase the SafeRest and was extremely happy that I did. I have no idea where the 1 and 2 star purchasers found the negative about this pad but after washing and drying as instructed tested the pad to ensure that it would at least be minimal leakage. 5 minutes after pouring a cup of water onto the pad, over a large pan, there was no leakage. I removed the excess water, dried the pad a second time and placed it on the mattress with absolute certainty that for, my wife and me, adequate protection was assured. Not one of the negative reviews came close to describing the product I received and I am perplexed to say the least that the product I received could be the same as described in the 1 and 2 star reviews. From the description of the pad, size, fit, no side protection, quiet, no zipper etc the pad was received precisely as described.I replaced my 5 year old pad with this one and believe this one with provide the same service for one-third the price of my original pad. Product is exactly as described in the on line information, description, size, materials and workmanship. Excellent pad for the price.

Seemed to work great for two years, but you don't really know until it's tested. My cat got locked in the room and peed on the bed. Changed the sheets and discovered that the water proof layer of the cover disintegrated where the pee was, and only where the pee was, ruining my thousand dollar latex foam mattress. Very disappointed.

My wife went into labor a year and a half ago and that labor went very quickly....so quickly that she ended up giving birth on our bed in the presence of EMTs. We then went to the hospital where I stayed overnight with my wife and new baby girl. The next day, once things had clamed down, I went home to clean up before they came home. For those who have witnessed or gone through child birth, you know what a mess I arrived to. For those who haven't, suffice to say there are many different types of fluids and a lot of them. Let's just say I was fully expecting to be purchasing a new mattress. To my amazement, once I'd bagged our sheets and this mattress pad, our mattress was perfectly fine. I bought another one immediately and will continue to use this brand as long as it exists. I challenge anyone to put it through a more rigorous test and I'm positive it can stand up to some sweat or your child's pee in the middle of the night. I could have posted a pic but it's better for everyone if I don't.

Good product, although not as good as Utopia's product. Bought one of each to compare and found out that although this one is much more expensive(30%), it is much cheaper quality...Still better value than the local store one and thus the 4 star.
