Will this work for my 03 mercury 50 hp outboard?

This switch worked perfectly on my 2004 Tracker Bass Buggy pontoon with 50hp Mercury 2-stroke...it was actually the only one I could find that was an exact replacement for it. Don't listen to the ones saying that it will not. IT WAS AN EXACT REPLACEMENT.

I have an johnson 88 spl that didnt come with any ignition switches will this one work?

Yes it sure will .. Follow ignition wiring instructions and you got goin on...

The switch made a very audible squealing noise when we turned key to on, any idea where we went wrong?

That's an interesting one, was the noise from the switch, or from the engine or accessories. I would suggest that you check all your connections according to the wiring diagram, and then maybe try it again, after disconnecting all accessories.

Does it come with any sort of diagram? I need to replace 6 wire switch with push to choke in boat with 75 Merc.

I do not remember a diagram in the package and you will have to make one yourself based on which wire is connected to which terminal on your existing switch. On mine, a couple of the terminals were in a different location on the new switch. Both switches should have a B or BAT (battery) terminal, an M for Magneto, A for accessory, a C for choke, and an S for Start. You want to match each wire from you existing switch to the same letter on the new switch.
