We bought this to look for wildlife and birds.
This is our first spotting scope, and we couldn’t be more pleased. We bought this to look for wildlife and birds. It’s easy to focus and the lens is crystal clear. It comes with a small tripod, which we find handy. We also mount it on a full size camera tripod so we can stand up, and move the scope easily for viewing. The carrying case makes it easy to throw over your shoulder to take on hikes, its waterproof, very durable, comes with lens covers and a cleaning cloth. Best part of all, the price is right! Highly recommend!

Revised review plz read
Great scope for the price. Not too big not too small good feature set great build quality. Like I said don't automatically jump for the Roxant scope. In spite of its ratings it's not all that when compared to scopes such as the Earmarth and the Zhumell. In actual use this is what i found. In adequate light 15x is very good, 30x is good, 45x is fairly good. At all magnifications closer subjects were clearer than more distanced ones. Images are definitely brighter at 15x but were acceptably so at higher powers. Scope close focuses more at 15 feet. There is some achromatism the brighter the scene is and the more contrast there is the easier it is to see. You can spot a faint achro ring on the outer edge of the field of view. Eye relief is very good at 15x but as you zoom up it vanishes fairly quickly.Construction and fit and finish were very good.Overall...forTarget/range, 4 to 4.5 starsBirding, 4 to 4.5 starsDistance, 3.5 to 4 starsValue for money, 4 to 4.5 starsLow light use, 3 stars. Needs more aperture.Still beats the Roxant. Good value at this price point.

Good entry level scope
This spotting scope is a solid entry level choice for any nature watchers. My previous scope had a straight eye piece so I really enjoyed this newer model with the angled viewer so I didn't have to raise it so high on the tripod. The scope seems to be durable and comes with a case that is not padded. There are good protective caps for both ends and I appreciate that the eye cover screws on and is not easy to lose from it popping off unexpectedly. The base towards the piece is rubbery, including the focal knob and turning it is simple and it spins without too much resistance. The optics start to get fuzzy on as it moves closer to the 60x end of the range, but is pretty clear on the lower end. Like most optics, the eye piece twists up and down to accommodate if you're wearing glasses. I like that the other end also slides up and down to reduce glare as well. It's been many years since I got a new spotting scope and I'm pleased with this one. If you're a serious birdwatcher this model probably won't be adequate for you, but if you're just starting out or are a more casual birder or nature watcher, it's a good choice.

Great birding scope for distance viewing.
I love this scope for long distance viewing. Think shore-birds, waterfowl, raptors, and such. It's too big for my backyard birds, but I bought it like a typical American male. 20 - 60 zoom are comparatively big numbers, so I went with it. Of course I also opted for the 80mm lens, because ... bigger. When I unpacked it, my wife said: "Very 'Rear Window' of you, dear." I do like the light-gathering aspect, and the 20X zoom is almost all I use. The other observation is that the lens is heavy and the mounting for the tripod is set a little too far back, so the thing is nose-heavy and wants to dip.I gave it five stars because it's a great scope for the price (I got a great deal at just under $50). I haven't had a chance to use it for looking at the moon and planets (still cloudy, long winter), but it should be great for that as well.

A solid entry-level scope for birding and wildlife spotting.
A solid entry-level scope for birding and wildlife spotting. The optics are lightweight and easy to carry, with good clarity and stability from 20x-40x (I was even able to scan mudflats one-handed without the tripod, which is next to impossible in normal circumstances - well done!). At the maximum range, the scope;s ability to gather light effectively gets much more compromised even in good lighting conditions, though that's not unexpected for any 20-60x scope by any means.Note that the tripod that comes with the scope will likely need to be replaced by something more suited to birding, as it's far too short for anything but a prone position (which is not the norm for birders at all); this is definitely the main drawback from a birder's perspective.
