Is this large enough to hold normal size binders?

I haven't put a binger in it but it does hold some pretty large textbooks for me along with standard size paper folders.

I got the file folder with 3 slots.  Each slot is a tad over 3 inches.  The width of the 3 slotted folder is 10 inches.

Will it hold 12x12 paper?

It's 10 inches deep so a bit less than that for the interior depth and 9.56 inches high so should manage 12x12 inch paper. But if your paper is not well supported it may flop over as in if it's not good thick card stock but text paper it will flop and tend to curl I suspect if not bound or supported if it doesn't expand the full width of the slot opening. These also come with a front panel that would prevent the use of going beyond the under 10 inch depth so those would not support any 12 x 12 inch pack. I usually store all my 12x12 paper and card stock in Sterilite desk top size Large three pack drawers. I've made towers out of these from 10-16 high from floor up and then others from 3-5 high in cupboards, closet shelves and under consoles that I keep my paper cutters on and die cut machines on. Anyway they fit 12x12 pads and packs beautifully and flat so no danger to bending and damage. I buy this to store my die and stamps I use most often for specific seasons and holidays that I've put into binders. For the dies I use three ring clear envelopes with velcro closures and inserted 8.5x11 inch 3ml magnetic sheets that I glued to chip board to firm up and that hold my dies for quick find and easy to return. Some of these I return to original 5x7 inch magnetic and clear envelope storage but others are kept in these 3 ring 1/2" binders to 1" soft side binders with clear sleeves that allow you to insert labels on outside of folder and it's end to see the contents quickly. These keep the binders beautifully. Also they work for my Anna Griffin 3 ring binders for her dies and stamps too. They are hard sided however. I was elated when these showed up with the open front so anything can be slid into them and my system and Anna G's note books also extend beyond the depth of most magazine holders such as these were fashioned from.

Would this work to hold soft sided manuals with a spiral binder?

I would think so...I use it on my desk for a combination of different books and notebooks, including one that has a spiral type binder.  In my garage I have one that holds all my guitar music books and notes with no problems.
