Minor modifications needed
This pitot sending unit was a replacement for one that went bad on a 1988 Dynasty Apollo 170. It has several holes on the base of the unit that you can use to mount it to the transom, but none of them matched up to the holes that were already drilled for the original. I don’t like drilling additional holes in the fiberglass transom, so I drilled the needed holes on the base/mounting bracket. Speedometer now works and is very close to what the GPS was reading for MPH. Works great but took off a star for having to make modifications.

Speedo works again
We bought a 2001 crownline boat that had a Faria speedo that wasn't working, and I found the pitot tube assembly was completely broken on the back of the boat. For us, this unit was a direct replacement. It has multiple mounting holes that aligned with the previous mount holes in the hull, so we just added some silicone and put it right back in place. No new holes pr drilling needed. Speedo works again.

This is a original Faria
Last one lasted 10yrs, must have hit something that was floating in the lake, ripped off everything but the mounting flange. Have posted accurate size of mounting flange for those that need to know.

Pros and possible negative
Okayyyyyy so thePitot tube should get 4.5 or 4 stars because “the pitot tube is really high quality, although the nipple is pretty weak and may break. For me, the speed is accurate around 20 mph or so, but any speed below that it displays lower speed than it actually is, and anything above 20 mph seems faster than actual speed.” Not sure if pitot or my boatThe props should get 4.5/4 stars “well made, but blades seem a bit thick”
