I have small ears and often find regular size headphone/earphones hurt my ears, I have had a similar problem with earplugs and waking up at night with throbbing ears. These earplugs work great. No, they don't completely cancel out sound but they do muffle the sound a good deal. I am a light sleeper and with these, I am no longer waking up throughout the night. The earplugs are shaped in a way that they fit in my ear without sticking out and without any discomfort, so I can still sleep on my side with these. Occasionaly find one may fall out, but not typically.
