You are not supposed to touch the tip to anything, & it does not drop like a drop so how do you get it in the eye. Can you use your finger?

It doesn't drop out of the tube like a regular eye drop since it's thicker than an eyedrop, but when you squeeze out enough, gravity will cause it to fall into your eye. You'll get more than the size of a regular eyedrop, but that's fine.

How does this compare with Genteal Gel? That is what eye specialist told to to use.

Genteal gel is in a little bottle (like many other drops), and it is very difficult to squeeze out a drop. I'm hoping this Systane gel product in a tube will be easier to squeeze. Genteal gel works great, though, once I finally squeeze the bottle hard enough to make a drop come out.

There is NO difference. They are both the same item, but different packaging, more likely updated. The ingredients are exactly the same and they are one in the same product. I use the Systane night gel and I LOVE it! It’s made a huge difference in my eye comfort. I also apply it when I first wake up.

would you recommend this for someone who wears contacts? if so, for during wear or overnight before putting in contacts?

If you take your contacts out before you go to sleep this would be good to use at that time. It is a gel so cannot be used while wearing contacts. But if your eyes get dry you can use this at bedtime to keep your eyes moist.
