Princeton Review Reading and Writing Workout for the SAT

You must have another book for theory.
The book is fine for beginners like you can just study from it as trying to study for the SAT for the first time. However, I don't recommend depending on it entirely because the book doesn't provide the information necessary to get a high score at SAT. I believe that there are better books for people aiming for a tippy-top score in R&W section.

Good for reading/writing
This is a good book that combines the reading and writing sections of the SAT I. For students who want a little more practice with these two sections, I recommend this book. They actually have some useful tips and have a fair amount of practice problems. I used Kaplan Advanced practice and this book together. Overall, a good book!

doesn't meet expectation
The strategies are not useful, only general ideas such as process of eliminating or personal order of difficulty. The practice sections also really ineffective with explanation kind of eliminate A because B,C are wrong and D is lack of evidence. There is only 1 full-length reading test, which i think is "harder" than the official test with shorter passages but unclear questions and difficult vocabularies. i'm a fan of Princeton review books (SAT Math 2, Chemistry prep books are good ones) but this book really frustrated me that i have to write a review to warn other SAT learners.

Good, but there are alternatives
The book is OK. Lots of examples, but my son found the Khan Academy practice sessions more productive.
