Arlo Pro 4 Spotlight Camera -(Pack of 3) - Wireless Security, 2K Video & HDR, Color Night Vision, 2 Way Audio, Wire-Free, Direct to WiFi No Hub Needed, Black - VMC4350B

This camera was easy to mount and connect to the Wi-Fi through the app setup. I have the magnet mount attaching it outside. We get a lot of high wind here, so I was worried about whether it would stay attached, but there have been no issues with that. The picture quality is very good for outdoors. The motion sensing seems to work well, but it will pick up movement from outside objects in the wind. There’s not much you can do about that though. The battery life is better than I expected. I’ve had it for about six weeks, and I haven’t charged it since the first day. It’s still at 67%. I bought the solar panel for it, but I haven’t hooked it up yet. We don’t have it running constantly though. It’s only recording/monitoring at night or when we leave. I really did not want a camera that I had to drill through the house and run wires. That would be significantly more complex. Overall, it seems like a solid camera. It’s a nice looking camera, small, easy to setup, and I think the app is pretty decent. It’s nice the app classifies motion as animals, people, vehicle, etc. One helpful note: there is a common complaint about the Arlo app with adding a spouse/friend to view the camera. You have to do it on a laptop browser. For some reason, it won’t work when they try to do the setup on their phone. **Update: Camera is still working great several months later. I got another one recently too. I also installed the solar panel a couple months ago. It works well and now I don’t need to charge the camera—though I only had to do it once or twice in the several months I owned it. I still highly recommend these cameras. Solar panel installs in a couple minutes (only 3 screws) and a cable attached from the solar panel to the Arlo camera.

I wanted to install a cameras to enhance my whole house security system. The Arlo Pro 4 cameras are a bit pricey, but I think, over-all, worth the cost. I especially like the magnetic mounts. They are very strong, easy to install, and so far, I have not had any problems with wind changing their positions. When purchasing the cameras, you have a choice of connecting them to your existing Wifi router or using a hub. Since the cameras will only connect to 2.4 G and most Wifi routes broadcasts both frequencies, my mobile device had to be connected to the 2.4 G instead of 5 G in order to set up the system. I didn't want to go into my router and turn off 5 G ... with past experience, when I do things like that, I usually cause another problem and didn't want to risk having all the devices on my system stop working. I purchased the Arlo Hub VMB 4540. Before installation, I went on-line and downloaded the manual for the Pro 4 cameras to my computer and read through it. You first must download the Arlo Smart App to your mobile device. After you figure out how to use that, the installation of the smart hub and cameras is a breeze. Prior to installing the cameras, I tried to find the optimal place to put them by downloading a free App called the Airport Utility App. It allows you to walk around your house and scan the 2.4 G and 5 G signals from your router to see where you have the best 2.4 G signal. (You will also see the signal strengths of your neighbors as well.) You can tell that by running the utility and looking for your router channels 1 to 11 (since these are the channels that broadcast 2.4 G) and see how strong the signals are. Anything from -50 dBm to - 68 dBm is a strong signal and your cameras will work fine in that position. Keep in mind you don't have to use this Airport Utility App. When you set up your cameras, the set-up procedure allows you to walk around the house and check your signals in the same manner for each camera you install. I installed three cameras. I just wanted to have an idea where I could place my cameras for a strong signal before installing them. My Router and Smart Hub are in the same room but about 20 feet apart to prevent signal interference. The ethernet cable that comes with the cameras is only about 4 or 5 feet long. I wanted to keep the hub much farther away from my router and wireless printer to prevent signal interference. The Smart Hub broadcasts a 2.4 G signal which travels much farther than a 5 G signal. I also purchased the Arlo Battery Charging station that allows the charging of two batteries at the same time. The batteries that came with the camera seem to be partially charged and took only about an hour to fully charge. On the other hand, I ordered three extra batteries, and those took several hours to charge to full capacity. I wanted to have a full replacement set charged, and ready to go. so that when the batteries in the camera were low, I could easily replace them all at one time. The batteries in the cameras are holding their charge well and have been in use now for three weeks or more, and all still have about an 85% charge left. It looks like we are on target for what the manufacturer says is about a 3 month window before you have to replace or recharge the camera batteries. When doing this, you don't have to take the camera down and disturb its placement. Simply press the button on the bottom of the camera, and the camera body slips out of the housing allowing you to easily change the battery and slip it back into the housing. You don't disturb the camera's aim at all. Once the cameras are installed, you can play around with the activity zones in the Arlo App and set your cameras to ignore motion in certain areas and alert to motion in others. I also found that the sound pick-up by the camera's microphone and speaker is excellent. Arlo gives you a free three-month trial subscription to their app with all the features. After three months, if you don't subscribe, at a fee of $9.99 per month, you lose most of the features of the Arlo app. I like those features, and most likely will subscribe after the trial period. To ensure that I have a hard copy of all events monitored by the cameras, I installed a 128 GB flash drive on the Smart Hub. This way, the recorded events are not only recorded to the cloud for a period of time, but also to my flash drive. I have the recording on the flash drive set to overwrite previous recordings as it reaches its capacity. Overall, I would rate the Pro 4 camera's 2 K resolution very good. I didn't want to spend the extra money for 4 K resolution.... it was just too pricey. So far, I am happy with my purchase. One disappointment I had, was when I opened the three pack of cameras that I bought, they had only two magnetic mounts and an Arlo adjustable mount. Since I wanted all Arlo Magnetic mounts, I had to order a two pack (doesn't come in a one pack) of Magnetic mounts at an additional cost. My only other disappointment is that in a 2400 square foot ranch house, I could not get signal strength strong enough with the hub to monitor my back patio and entire backyard. I had to settle for only a partial view of the backyard by mounting the third camera at the side of the house where it received a strong signal from the hub. Range extenders for the hub or purchasing another hub wasn't a viable option that would work. A second hub would still have to be connected via ethernet cable to my Wifi router, and that would require another ethernet cable run from the Wifi router, down to the basement, and over and up through the floor to where a second hub would need to be located. It wasn't worth the investment or the hassle.

I will start by saying I have a larger home so I need 10 to 12 cameras/ devices to properly cover all the exterior access points well. Dealing with struggles, I have purchased both a large Arlo and Blink (10+ cameras each) system. Both have their strengths and weaknesses - here are Arlo’s: STRENGTHS: Arlo provides hands down a significantly better picture in both day and night. It uses a better quality camera that easily covers twice the width a Blink outdoor camera does - with better resolution. They also have a “track and zoom” feature where the camera automatically moves to the area of motion and zooms in on it so you’ve a better high definition image of what you want to see. The night vision is twice as clear and I can identify an individual at night easily (unlike the Blink where it’d realistically be difficult to provide police a clear image of a person that most could easily identify). WEAKNESS: The first is the batteries. They don’t last long (1 - 2 months before recharging is required- and only 1 month on the highest quality picture mode), and they are expensive to replace (I’ve had several lemons). It’s also time consuming to replace them monthly - especially when you need a ladder for higher mounted cameras. Where possible for outdoor areas, I highly recommend the solar panel adapters they sell - they aren’t cheap but if they have a good bead on the sun the batteries stay charged year round. The second problem I’ve experienced with Arlo is the real expandability of the hub versus what they tell you. When I had 7 or less cameras /devices on a hub it performs faster and much more consistently- even after power outages or brown outs. But when you go past that, cameras frequently fall completely off the Arlo hub network. This is a HUGE pain as it requires you to retrieve each individual camera that fell off the hub network and place it within a few feet of the Arlo hub to resync it. This is very laborious when you have cameras outside where a ladder is needed to retrieve them. That also makes this system difficult for second home usage, or while traveling since you have to physically be there to manually reset matters. You will have zero visibility on fallen areas in the interim until you can resync cameras - which doesn’t make your sense of comfort better while on vacation. Comparatively, my 10+ camera Blink system always reset perfectly by itself and I have never had to resync it. SUMMARY: Arlo has a superior picture (esp night time) that covers twice the area, and you can always use it to identify a perpetrator - day or night. You may want to ask yourself what good a camera system is if you have a distorted image you can’t provide to police to identify a thief? Blink simply doesn’t do as well in this area - especially for large area coverage or at night. But to make the Arlo system more stable and expandable, be prepared to spend even more money on what is already an expensive system. The cost of the solar panels and extra hubs (if you need more than 7 cameras/ devices) add up quickly. I’m guessing the reason the Arlo hub can’t handle as many devices as the Blink sync module is because Arlo requires more bandwidth for the higher resolution picture it provides. After using both on my larger home, I ultimately decided on Arlo for its superior picture despite the added costs and challenges. But if you have a small enough place where the poorer resolution will suffice, and night vision isn’t a big concern, go with Blink as it is very stable and considerably less expensive. The only other setback to Blink is the 20 - 40 seconds it takes to load a camera’s image on their app, which is significantly slower than Arlo and can be quite irritating. It’s a classic case of getting what you pay for, but they don’t make the differences clear to you. I hope this helps others understand their differences so they can make the right choice for their needs - and spend less than I did finding out 😉

The cameras themselves are decent. I got them for indoor use and they seem to work well for the most part. I got the three pack and only received 2 of the magnetic wall mounts and a third kind of manual rotating swivel mount. Would have liked a third magnetic mount instead in my personal case, but I can see how some people might like the variety. The magnetic mounts are nice because you can use them as stands in the house to angle them as needed in different orientations while still keeping them stable. The design of these is also nice because if you DON'T need it angled, and level is good, they will still stand on their own without the mount. The picture quality is great, the siren is nice and loud, and the spotlight is bright but also adjustable so you can dial it in. Some of the cons in my opinion, is that the night vision is OK, the cheaper cameras that I had that these are replacing had better night vision quality in my opinion. The depth of the clarity isn't super far in night vision recording so some of the deeper areas get a little lost in darkness. Also, it triggers way too easily. Even at night if I have a couple of lights on, they will still be in night vision mode when if I switch to color, it still looks nice and clear, so they are a little sensitive. Additionally, I got the base station for these for additional local storage, and you can't easily view the footage without being connected on the same network on the app. It seems like local storage was kind of a back-thought on the whole thing, and they're pushing more for the subscription services. The older cameras I had could easily access the footage on the app they had so I was kind of hoping for the same use for a more expensive and better known company, but it is what it is. Hopefully down the line this might change. All in all though, I will still be using these because I'm kind of invested at this point, but would still recommend. As a whole, it's still a good product!

After several months of considering a security camera system for our home, I chose the Arlo Pro 4 Spotlight Camera and have been very pleased with the performance so far. I evaluated several systems, but after reading the reviews, speaking with a friend who has an Arlo system and comparing features, I found this to be the best choice. I like the Amazon free return policy when purchasing a product online. I also purchased three of the Arlo 25 foot charging cords based on other reviews as I knew I would be mounting the cameras at locations that would require a ladder to access the cameras to recharge them and would highly recommend this option as a fully integrated and convenient system. The Arlo Pro 4 Spotlight Camera is a full-featured camera system that is easy to set up and install as a DIY project, but as is the case with any home security camera system, professional installation may be required. The video quality is excellent, the magnetic mounts provide easy camera angle adjustments and the app allows for easy customization of the cameras. I am not a fan of recurring costs associated with the cloud storage, but Arlo does sell a Smart Hub store store the videos. I also like that Arlo sends emails with useful tips on how to make the most of the system. The one caveat I have seen in the instructions and reviews is the cold weather performance. I reside in the northeast where extreme cold during the winter months may be an issue and I will have to wait and see how that impacts my outdoor cameras. Although this is not an inexpensive system, it appears to be a much higher quality product than the less expensive options I've seen.

I bought this camera for an outdoor area after good experience with an older wired unit. I was dubious about battery life, but there was no possibility of providing power to the location. The Internet signal is part of an extensive mesh network (Open Mesh) on a large rural property. Installation proceeded exactly as specified without any problem. I did not experience any of the issues described by some reviewers. Picture quality is as good as can be expected from a small camera like this. Night vision was marginal due to the large space, but was adequate for my purposes. Motion detection is excellent, and the ability to define detection areas was well executed. I was expecting the requirement to subscribe to the cloud service, and I think the price is reasonable for the functionality provided. I find the app easy to use, and it integrates well with my other cameras and systems, except for Samsung Smart Things...that works, but the native app is much better. i have been pleasantly surprised by the battery life. I just returned from an extended overseas trip, and the camera is still working fine after a month, with 73% power remaining. It was easy to access from multiple foreign countries, and provided reliable and accurate alerts. One thing to be aware of...a sudden change in lighting, such as a timed light, a motion detecting light, or a nearby lightning strike will trigger the motion detection, even when there is no actual motion. Overall, I found this device to be accurately represented, with good build quality, and good value for the price.

I have been running 4 Arlo Pro 4 cameras for 2 years now, and I see the overall average for this product is 4 stores for this product, based on 4000 reviews, but I'm taking my down to 3, and here's why. Pros: • Battery makes it convenient to place one almost anywhere • Battery life is really good, I only have to charge once every 4 months or so • Easy to connect them up to your network • Motion-activated Spotlight is a better deterrent than the camera itself Cons: • Low light camera clarity is pretty bad, even with the spotilight on. ○ You can discern a bad guy on the property, but won't be able to get a positive ID even with a direct face shot. I know this from experience, now. ○ This is using high quality video mode • Pretty significant lag between requesting visibility on a camera and receiving it on my system • System is almost worthless without the subscription service to store videos for a few weeks. If you have more than 1 camera, you are looking at a minimum of $10/month (at the time of this review). Factor that "rental" cost into the total system cost • Arlo is not very responsive to feature requests, so if it doesn't have everything you want, don't hold your breath. As an example, search for "temporarily disable arlo camera" and you will find a thread on the Arlo community site. That simple, yet very useful (I would say mandatory) feature was requested originally in October, 2019 by multiple people. It is now July 2023, and it's still not available. Makes me a bit nervous about how often they fortify the solidity of the network security of these units… • Can't get updated battery status from cameras without reboot of the camera. Seems like yet another software feature that is stagnating in their queue. I honestly just count on these more as a deterrent, than a way to identify anyone after a crime. The spotlight draws their attention to the camera, which sometimes convinvces them to leave...but not always...and then if they stay I don't know who they are. If you just want to see videos of the deer munching on your plants at night, then this is a pretty good choice!

The Pro 4 is better than other pro cam in my opinion it doesn’t need to go through the base station. It is best to connect pro 4 to power supply (Wi-Fi control plug for on or off charging) or to a solar panel.

Se ven muy bien pero lo malo que una cámara en su 2a carga ya no carga y por lo tanto ya no sirve.

Arlo ya no da los 7 dias sin costo de videos en la nube y no te deja contratar el servicio de Nube en Mexico por lo que no puedes ver los videos pasados. Con esto no vale la pena estas camaras, cuidado no compren si las van a usar en Mexico.

I already have 2 Arlo Pro2 cameras with base station vmb4000. They work perfectly since day one of purchasing them years ago. Decided to expand my surveillance at home because of my great experience with Arlo, but sadly I received faulty cameras. They would not record any motion event at night unless I start live streaming, which then it’d disconnect for 2 seconds and come back on.(makes a loud click sound when that happens) And the video recording shows my movement for 1 second then there’s a gap (2 seconds approximately missing from footage) and it shows as if I teleported a few feet.. Also about the video recordings, I checked the Pro4 compatibility on Arlo’s website prior to purchasing. On their website it shows that the Base Station VMB4000 is compatible with the Pro4. However it didn’t mention anywhere that it will NOT show your recorded events via the mobile app. You’d need to remove USB storage and view your recordings from PC.. which defeats the purpose of the smart camera. Otherwise you need to buy the newer Base Stations.

Me gusta el ángulo y la resolución. Sirven bien durante la noche también. Y las baterías se recargan bien con los paneles de solar.
