Works great
Just tried connecting my MacBook to my monitor with an HDMI cable via this and it worked fine. All USB ports are fine too -- would just have to keep in mind that these are USB 3.0 ports so if you try to plug in a USB 2 device, it could overpower it. In my case I plugged in an old laptop fan and it got louder than usual. The hub does get warm easily as well.

Sturdy, working and compatible to almost all USB C type ports, I checked it with surface 7 pro.

Faulty unit, but customer service helped fix it
I bought this hub about two months ago. And after not noticing that this could happen and two months of painful testing I realized that the hub is causing issues which I could only assume is due to a faulty unit. Customer service got it squared away though.
