A real feel-good novel
Centred on larger than life Tiny Cooper, supported by two Will Graysons, this is a real feel good novel. Tiny, Will's best friend since fifth grade, 6'6" tall and with an offensive footballer's weight to more than match, is big, gay, proud and loud; by contrast Will is of normal size and would prefer to sink into the background; and the same could be said for the other Will Grayson who enters the story, the only difference is that Will number two is also gay, if not out. The Will's are rather grey characters - that is not meant to be derogatory - but I feel that are intentionally less colourful and more introspective to contrast with Tiny's overpowering presence. The story, told in turns by Will and Will, follows events leading up to Tiny's school stage musical production, and involves his many love affairs, most of which are of very short duration, and his search for love and truth. In fact the novel is all very much about love and truth. Will Grayson X 2 is a really entertaining read, frequently very funny, yet sometimes thought provoking; it steadily builds to what we are sure must be a grand finale, and we will not disappointed, but that is not to say that we will not be surprised - and for that we have to wait to the very end.

Enticing book that is quite the page turner.
John Green/David Levithan's Will Grayson, Will Grayson is not my normal book of choice, in fact it is very far from it. I normally go for science fiction or thrillers, however, the tagline for this book and its special price won me over.So what can I say about this book? It's certainly different and the fact that their are two authors and two voices (the book is written from the perspective of both Will Grayson and the other Will Grayson!) is quite appealling. After reading Departure by A.G Riddle I was quite taken with this concept and this book delivers it in a thoughtful comic style. The characters are huge (in more ways than one) and they keep you interested in the unfolding storyline of how teenagers are thrown into the world confused and lost.It certainly is a page turner. Both characters pretty much have nothing in common other than their name and their inability to meet a significant other. I was really looking forward to their meeting and read as fast as I could to get there. The inventive and unbelievably funny way this happens is endearing and reflective of how the book progresses. I'd certainly recommend this book to anyone, irrespective of their favoured genre and it is certainly a departure from the norm.

Not too bad, not too good.
Overall the book is okay; a little improvised but okay. At times I did feel like the book was a little predictable which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it would have been nice to have a surprise.I also felt as though there was no specific plot for the novel (as I said improvised) and things were just happening for the sake of happening. Even the main basis of the story felt a little unnecessary; like the only thing to go off was 'we want to write a book about gay love'. The thing that most disappointed me was the ending, it didn't feel believable which led me to totally skim over the fact it was the ending; nothing was resolved only perceived to be solved.

Absolutely Perfect
Will Grayson is a high school student, whose ironically nicknamed bestfriend 'Tiny Cooper' is a loud and proud homosexual. Will finds it easier to stick to the rules he set himself to get through life, rather than opening up and getting close to people. But is all of this about to change? Meanwhile a nothing Will Grayson is falling hard for a boy named Isaac that he met over the Internet. But will it last, and what will happen when the two world's collide? As an avid John Green fan, I was excited to read this book regardless of the content. One thing that did strike me though, was how utterly perfect the two of them portrayed homosexuality. Oftentimes when a piece of material is based around this subject, it focuses a lot on the fact that the person is different and makes a huge deal over the 'coming out' part. However this is portrayed like any other love story, the way it should be. Sometimes you read a book and think to yourself that the world will never know true understanding of one and other, until every living soul has read those words. This is one if those books. John Green had me tears by the end, as always.

Impacting.
I tried to read this on holiday and got quite into it, I was however distracted by the sun and the pool so it remained dusty on the shelf for months after returning. When I picked it up again however, I read the whole thing in one day.Just finished it now and I've never been quite impacted by a book before. At times it was quite uncomfortable to read as I identified with the troubled antagonists so much and when they hurt, so did I.There are so many beautiful lines in this book that really get you thinking, and gets you in a state of awe of human nature. The twist when the two Will Grayson meets left me genuinely shocked and in despair. In the last few pages my cheeks flushed, and my hairs stood on end. This book is so important for the gay youth to read and find support, refreshing to see a book like this.Thank you again John Green & David Levithan for such a beautiful piece of work.

Love and truth make each other possible...
This is a great book for theater kids, gays, and allies alike, as it touches on a plethora of subjects and issues but in a way that does not rely solely on stereotypes, even with its nod to Elton John’s Tiny Dancer. Will Grayson, Will Grayson, written by John Green and David Levithan, follows two teenage boys who share the same name but live very different lives, with one being gay and one being straight. The novel is beautifully done, with its alternating chapters and colliding worlds, and I particularly love the change in capitalization, grammar, and attitude between the characters/chapters. As the stories progress, the authors explore various themes, such as identity, love, friendship, family, and acceptance, but in an honest and heartfelt way, and they also explore common pitfalls of a digital society, such as when the gay Will Grayson confesses his feelings to his online crush, Isaac, only to find out that Isaac isn’t who he thought he was. This part of the story beautifully tackles the pain of betrayal and the wave of emotions that comes along with it.I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and felt transported back to the drama club circles and gay-straight alliances of my youth. Each character is relatable in one way or another, and the way the story plays out, relationships evolve and devolve, and friendship and positivity ultimately prevail; it truly does transport you from a novel to a musical and then leaves you stepping back into reality with a renewed faith in humanity. All in all, this was a wonderful read. Although I may not have sung along, it did still leave me with a revitalized hope in the power of positivity, living your truth, and being seen. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story with a lot of heart and humor.

Love it
I loved all the books I read by John Green, and this is no exception. The collaboration with David gives it a different touch, not at all a bad one: in my personal opinion it only makes the book even more interesting because of the contrast between the writings styles.Recommended.

Funny, heartbreaking
I bought this LGBTQ YA fiction book as a gift for someone else and started flipping though, next thing I knew I read the whole thing in one evening. Creative, entertaining take on modern teenage angst. Funny, heartbreaking, a great ride, esp for teens. If you love high school musicals it's got some nice riffs on that world you'll enjoy.
